Great professor, but he likes himself a lot. frequently cites his own articles and tells anecdotes about his meetings with stephen king irl. great at making you think critically, fair grader with good feedback.

Fantastic professor, one of the few I enjoyed this first semester. Take any and every class with him if you enjoy english and are ready to work for a grade -- but it's satisfying to get good marks from him!

Tony is really interested in his subject matter however he is a very harsh grader. He refuses to acknowledge that anybody has a thought that he hasn't thought of already or an idea that is better than his. There is not much work given and he doesn't use a grading system he just assigns grades randomly, including your entire semester grade.

I usually average A- on papers but not in this class. Tony is an extremely casual and relaxed professor in class, but this is confusing in contrast to his grading system. He's apathetic to say the least. Closer to lazy.

Just keep up with the readings and you will be fine! He has a very laid back lecturing style and is always going off of student questions/comments and using them in his lectures. A super fun professor, definitely recommend this class!

So popular, class enrollment is competitive. Plays Favorites but gives students a chance to win his favor. Charismatic, Engaging; Diverse Pedagogy. Attendance imp to grade. He publishes extensively; textbooks & prose are superior to his poetry. He has given an academic legitimacy to popular fiction (e.g., Stephen King) in the Horror/Gothic Genre.

Tony is the best teacher at UVM by far. He loves his subject (Gothic lit and film) and this is really clear in his classes. He is extremely enthusiastic and pushes you to be a better writer and student. If you are not prepared to come to class, do the reading, and work hard on papers, you will not do well in his class. But it's worth it.

I know that Magistrale is very popular, but personally. I really disliked the class. He stuffed in mindless and irrelevant political hits whenever he could, and came off as incredibly pompous. He is an entertainer, not a professor.

i hate to be the only one who says anything bad about magistrale, but i had a hard time in his class. there was a good amount of group work (which i personally hate), and he always took attendance...which was also a problem for me. : ) but the course material and lectures were interesting, and he's a neat guy.
