Read the textbook or pay close attending in class. Attendance isn't recorded and it may take all semester for grades to come back. Go to him early and ask for help if you need. He is a caring professor, but we are adults and shouldn't need to be spoon-fed like children. Start on the projects early and ask questions to get a focus for test material.

Lectures are good, but can be dry and homework assignments are reasonable, but still challenging. The hardest part are the tests. For essay questions, be very specific and wordy. For math questions, don't worry about finding the exact numerical value, rather think logically about the problem and show your process.

I dont want to say "the worst teacher" .Yes he is a nice guy , but his class is so boring. what about his exams? well if you are taking a class from him you will be surprised. and no body wants to learn physics by slides right. it is same for network. Dr Roussev there are a lot of job out there you don't have to teach. teaching is not for you.

There wasn't much warning at all as to the difficulty of the tests. Be ready to not only know the textbook, but to HEAVILY APPLY the concepts to wordy, situational problems. Oh, and be able to apply them FAST.

I love the subject matter of CSCI 4311, but Dr. Roussev truly made this class a nightmare. Very confrontational as someone else said, and his tests have little to nothing to do with his lectures. Be prepared to learn the material on your own from the book, not from the lectures.

Comment:

One of the worst teachers I've ever had. He repeatedly promised he would post material on his website and never did. His tests had no relevance to the material covered in class. When I went to talk to him during office hours, he was confrontational and wouldn't listen. Very unproffesional.

He is not very organized and is just too boring. His tests are sometimes way too hard. His homeworks are fair. Sometimes it takes a while before he answers students' questions or actually do something he promised the class he would do.
