A lot of busy work but doable to get an A in. Lectures are sooo boring, its easy to dose off. But to do well just complete the study guides and review notes. I learned a lot from this class. Prof. Castle wants all her students to do well.

Prof Castle's field lab is the BEST. It's way better than the in-class lab. Only 2 field trips (Fri - Sun) the Mojave Desert & Death Valley (Spring 2018). Her on-site lectures are awesome. She KNOWS her field really well. Take some GOOD notes, diagrams and a lot of pictures. You will need them for your field notebooks (2x required)

The field lab is 100x better than the regular lab because you go camping! Take very good notes during the trips because she expects more than a simple summarized journal. Being outdoors and seeing geologic features in person made the subject fun and enjoyable. The locations change every semester; this past fall we went to June Lake and Salton Sea.

She is a great teacher! I would highly suggest you take her class. Do the study guide, she counts it as extra credit, and it helps you re learn the material for tests. She is very nice, and is very knowledgeable about the topics. She hands out outlines for notes, all you have to do is fill in the blanks! TAKE HER CLASSES!

ThIs course is worth it. Learn a lot and have an adventure. -Take very detailed notes. it's hard in the field, but it will directly affect your grade. The first notebook is the hardest, so ask her to check it before turn in date. _Bring a camel pack, if you have one, because water is scarce.

She's very passionate about her work. She tries to make the subject as understandable as possible. She does have the students best interest. There is a required presentation for the class but it's easy. Also attendance is important.

Very nice teacher, tests aren't to difficult and she gives you a good study guide for each chapter. She demands your complete attention during class time but that's more for respect I think than anything else. Great Professor overall.

was a great class, learned alot. Very helpful and attentive to any question. Book not needed but recommended if this is your major. Everything is based off the notes gives 4 tests and drops the lowest test score as well as gives you a review. A few projects in the class. She was very lenient when grading. Wonderful teacher i really recommend her!!!

3 tests. 1st was on minerals & the 2nd on rocks. You literally had to look at the mineral or rock & write its name. The tricky thing about that is some of them look like they're the same one, but they're not. If you don't spend time out of class to study then you're screwed unless you have photographic memory. The final was like any standard test.

Took her for lab. Despite all of the good reviews, I don't agree with all. She's nice, but she wasn't that helpful and at times she didn't seem that eager to help. There were quite a few occasions where most of us were confused. You'll need your lab book. Because it's a lab, the class was really long. Also, extremely boring.

Definitely a top-notch teacher that's good at what she does. Very cordial, understanding, and detail oriented. But be warned, the material is, without a doubt, the stalest information ever. If learning every nitpick detail about geology is your forte, then this professor gives you more than enough. But most of the class struggled to stay awake.

She is an amazing teacher! She is very informative, helpful, and the practical knowledge I took with me from this class is priceless. I felt like I learned so much and when we're paying 36/unit, that's important! I wouldn't mind taking her again as well!

Very excited and passionate about geology. She really knows her stuff and wants all her students to succeed. Don't buy the book she gives you notes and you can study from there. Extra credit available. Sometimes cares about students too much so she doesn't like people on their phones are doing other class work. Easy class but boring lectures. Ps. Get a seat that's facing the whiteboard. It sucked Turing around to listen to lectures everyday.

Extremely easy if u ACTUALLY copy down the notes on the work sheets she provides. Several days prior to tests you receive study guide questions that are basically the test! Easily 75% of the questions are from the study guide. Overall good teacher!
