I don't like history, but I love to write. So when I heard all his test were essays I was relieved. Too bad he treats the class like it's your major, instead of a general education class. He's so hard to understand and follow. Don't take him, unless you enjoy boring lectures and tough exams.

Dr. Hammond is a nice teacher but the truth is that he cannot teach. His lectures are helpful but then to again he restates and add are leave things out that he is suppose to tell you. He cannot grade and I am an "A" student that made an "B" in the class. Don't get me wrong he is very nice but he cannot teach and he forgets what he has told you mos

Horrible teacher, horrible class. Incredibly boring, no clarity in lecturing. Tests are simple but expects essays to be perfect. I've had a 4.0 two semesters in a row and would've had another one if he hadn't have given me a B. Avoid this guy at all costs.

DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!! He is absolutely horrible! He is out of his mind. This man does not need to be teaching, and if you take his class you will learn why. I am a straight A student and barely passed with a C. He doesn't grade his own tests...the GA's do. DO. NOT. TAKE. HIM. EVER!

I dont understand why he is getting bad reviews. He is an awesome teacher who is VERY lenient on homework assignments. He gives alot of bonus, 2 midterms and a final. I cant stress this enough, TAKE THIS TEACHER. He is AMAZING. especially if you are horrible in history like i am.

I honestly don't know how this prof got his PhD. They apparently didn't require social-skills teaching classes back then. He knows some stuff but isn't helpful at relaying it. He tells stories, history, in the 1st person. He honestly has no idea what is going during his lectures, as half the students are asleep & the other half on the internet.

Boring! The class sucks, but he gives tons of extra credit points, enough to raise your grade 3% points. There are two midterms and a final. They definately aren't the easiest. I recommend that you buy the course pack. He wrote it, and it follows along with his lectures.

Awful teacher, awful class. Cannot lecture at all. Stammers constantly, talks in circles, impossible to follow most of the time. There have been numerous occasions where he has given us outright incorrect information. His class is a joke, he teaches antiquarianism, not history. Do not expect to learn anything from this man. He should not teach.

I took Hammond for Czarist Russia. Dont fear people, it might be boring, but its super easy and honestly if you dont want too you dont have to listen. You just have 3 small papers, and you can rewrite them for a better grade too. He's a sweet guy, and really love what he does. You have to respect that. Easy stuff yo.

This was the most boring class that I've ever taken in my entire life... Having said that, I came out with a pretty easy A. Lots of bonus (that I didn't do), and you don't really need to take notes because the coursepack says everything. Review sessions help a lot because he's a little picky about what he wants written for the essay questions.

Dr. hammond is a crazy man he speaks in circles the entire time, you have no idea what is going on. however past all that you can get an easy A in this class. i think i went about 1/10th of the time just show up for review days, he gives you all the answers and you can take a cheat sheet to the test. easy A, just really boring. do the extra credit
