She is a wonderful professor who truly cares about her students. Her passion for what she teaches in inspiring and she is a very fair grader. Class discussion is encouraged and the 1st part of the semester is focused on a simulation activity. I definitely recommend this professor and course to anyone in need of a POLS course.

If you love case law, you'll love this class. I took it TU/THUR and had readings due every class with online reading quizzes most days. Midterm and final are both essay exams (closed book). Definitely something you have to study for. She occasionally does participation assignments unannounced in class, so don't skip. Overall it was a good class!

amazing professor. You have to actually work in her classes (shocker, I know) but it is so worth it. She is very knowledgable in her field, and a great mentor if you are looking for one. If you are unwilling to do challenging work, you should not take her class, and you should probably rethink the whole college thing??

Prof. H will help you & prepare you well for your honors thesis. But, this class can be difficult since it's very independent. Your grade revolves heavily around the semester-long project; pick a topic you like & know about. Readings give interesting insights, but you may not use all of them in the project. Work hard; diligence will be rewarded.

Professor Hettinger is very intelligent and articulate, but very demanding as well. Extremely harsh grader and very nit-picky. I aced the objective parts of her tests and did not do so well on the subjective parts. She wasn't very polite to me either whenever I went to talk to her. I question if she was always objective in grading.

Very intelligent and interesting professor. Go to class for the notes and because the time goes pretty quickly. If you take the time to do the large amounts of reading, you'll be fine. I learned a lot and would definitely take a class with her again

Nitpicky grader! She is very intelligent and articulate, but treated me with contempt every time I spoke to her. Expect to know your stuff borderline perfect or drop the class.

She was right when she said you need to do the reading, and probably half the class dropped after the first exam. If you're willing to put in the reading time, she knows the material really well and will make clear what you need to show on the exams. Online quizzes on the reading due for most classes.

I took 3822W with Professor Hettinger. The class was interesting and taught well, Prof Hettinger gave a lot of good feedback on essays and the midterm and final were very straight forward. She encouraged students to meet with her and maintained a good classroom environment. If you need a W, I would definitely recommend this class

Hettinger is a very good professor, but grades rather harshly; very strict about details. Excellent and well respected teacher, and will write you a letter of recommendation upon completion of a few of her classes, but you must work hard for an A.

I had Professor Hettinger for both Con Law and Rights and Liberties. She is challenging, but arranges her syllabus in a methodical and organized manner that is consistent with her exams. Lots of work, but completely worth it.

A difficult class, but well worth the effort. Accessible, offers pre-test study sessions on her own time. Makes the study of constitutional law completely accessible for students willing to make the effort.
