If you put in the effort you will do well, he is very approachable and puts the material in a way that you can understand it! If you want to do very well doing the reading is important. The material on the quizzes and exams is very clear, he literally tells you exactly which concepts are on the tests, so if you don't do well its on you.

I personally had Professor Church as not only my Neuro 101 teacher but also for my Freshman year seminar which ultimately made him my advisor. As a new freshman I loved Prof. Church. He is really funny and always makes class upbeat and interesting. Prof. Church is NOT easy by all means but he cares about his students. One of my favorite teachers.

I took Neuroscience 101 with Professor Church, and it was extremely extremely difficult. Every quiz and test was a toss up, due to how poorly concepts were explained in class.

Dr. Church is the reason I am a neuroscience major. He is passionate and energetic and has such an interest in the topic. He makes science fun. With that said, he's not easy -- you can't expect to coast through any of his classes, intro level or not. He's the best

Dr. Church was my pre-med advisor. Extremely unhelpful, didn't spend time explaining options to a complete newbie to the process. Seems extremely bias against DO schools and pro MD schools. Cold and machine like, if you have an option do not use him as your Pre-med advisory, you will be sorry!

Had him for three classes and done research with him. He's awesome! If you don't participate, you probably won't do well. And if you see him outside of class, he is extremely helpful and he'll like you a lot better.. For pre-med, he's amazing. He knows what he's talking about and is willing to answer all your questions anytime

I'm writing this as fair warning to future generations: stay away! The combination of incomprehensible busy work and nebulous grading make his classes (and I've taken several) the sort where you simply want to tear your hair out, even if you love the material.

Not as bad as everyone makes him out to be. Pretty unorganized, but very intelligent. Tends to choose favorites, get on his good side. Some exam problems are tricky, but nothing impossible. Encourages participation. Very cool guy who really knows his stuff if you talk to him, very helpful in my experiences.

the most awful professor i've had possibly ever. because of him i almost stopped doing science all together. he puts no time into lecture prep, follows a confusing, incoherent class structure, and doesnt teach the material he is supposed to . avoid him at all costs.

Prof. Church was routinely disorganized and unprepared. His grading scheme, if he indeed followed one, was vague and inconsistent, leaving even the best students in the class at a loss as to how to do well. He simply lacked even a modi****of interest in teaching the material. Time spent in his lectures seemed pointless. I suggest avoiding him.

doesn't really teach, doesn't know how to explain, in class he just tries to figure out how to use his computer. he's not a mean guy, but he expects you to know stuff you never covered, and then penalizes you if you don't know how to do it. don't take his class unless you're prepared to learn and work by yourself

Dr. Church has lost his sense of wonder and curiosity. He treats science like an intellectual coal mine and races out of his lab at the end of the day to wash the knowledge from his face. He is unknowledgable, unhelpful and obnoxious. His ignorance of life and science fuels a firey temper which can be triggered at any moment. Beware. Beware.
