Very tough professor. You need to be on top of your game from the beginning and only get better from there. It is important that you read ahead for his lectures. His exam was the hardest, and if you don't analyze the questions well, it will be tough to receive a good grade.

Horrible lecturer. Knows his stuff but when he lectures, he has no notes and just talks. He expects you to be able to write all the info down and learn it at the same time. I would say, just listen and write your own notes. Be prepared for clicker quizzes because he starts the countdown right away and gives no real time to answer. Not good at all.

The exam for Professor Eldred was outright ridiculous. The average for the class was around the mid 60s. The lectures were easy to understand but the exam was based solely on his lectures. I took recordings of his lectures and during the finals, I took the time to review his lectures. I did very well. I suggest you do the same.

Comment:

Professor Eldred took over for Prof. Monette during the semester and he was so much more chill and clear with his material. He gave 2 exams, the first of which was pretty easy. Second one was during finals week and was more challenging. But overall, he's a good professor and makes the subject more interesting. I would recommend him!

Eldred is funny, straight-forward, and passionate about the subject matter. Exams are based on lecture, so go to class and pay close attention because otherwise it will be difficult to keep up (I annotated his powerpoints on my computer). His final exam is tough, but I learned the most from him and he was my favorite of the three BI108 professors.

The third exam involved Monette's and his questions. His questions were great compared to Monette's. His final exam, though, was ridiculous. He said you just need to know the pictures and what he says in class. NOT TRUE. I paid full attention and studied the pictures very well, and I received a 72. The average for the exam was 62. STUDY HARD.

I didn't like his teaching style. He just showed diagrams from the textbook and verbally explained the notes, no writing. I found the best strategy was to download his powerpoint beforehand and type word for word what he says under each slide. Reading the textbook helps but not as necessary as Monette. Definetely better than Monette. Passionate.

I found his exams to be more difficult than Monette, but most disagree. If you like neuroscience or anatomy/physiology, you'll enjoy Eldred. Tells you what the exam is on. Straightforward exams. Powerpoints are only pictures so he talks a lot. Can be hard to follow because he moves fast. He's funny too.

Great improvement from Eldred. The third exam (mix between Monet and Eldred) is probably the easiest of the four. However, the other three are killers with averages in the low D range. The third exam (Eldred's) was by no means the easiest. Do not come into this class expecting a walk in the park. Very tough. Try to do above average.

MUCH better than Monette. Monette was horrible and Eldred was a huge improvement. Told us exactly what would be on the exam. If you take notes on his lectures, you'll do fine I promise. Just take good notes and study them and it's a good exam. Unlike Monette where you'll study very long and still not do well.

Do not miss the lectures! He tells you exactly what is important. He goes off on very interesting tangents sometimes which give a context to the material. You don't really have to study the textbook if you just remember the lectures. He's funny and interesting and I quite liked him. Exams are easy.

Prof. Eldred is so much better than Prof. Monette. Prof. Eldred uses exciting examples from his lab to teach us biology while prof. monette only goes over whatever is in the book. He makes me love neuroscience and he is just amazing!

I anticipated Professor Eldred after listening to boring Professor Monnette. Professor Eldred knows a lot and clearly explains the diagrams in his powerpoints that I didn't need to read the textbook. He emphasized what would be on the tests. He covers a lot of information by speaking quickly. His tests are fair. He is passionate about neuroscience.

compared to Monnete i thought he was 100 times better. he is clear and at least his lectures were useful for the test. he lets u know what you need to learn,as long as u attend class pay attention you are golden. his tests are not tricky at all unlike Monette's they are very clear and basic questions.i lovedd himmmm
