Comment:

Lecture style is horrible. Makes jokes and laughs at them. Learned nothing in the class and relied on textbook and practice tests. The teaching style is ancient and its about retire time. Avoid this class and take one online unless you want to hurt your GPA!! Ask ED students above you and they will all tell you not to take this!!

1 homework grade, 4 multiple choice tests (75 questions), 1 essay test where you apply what you've been learning, and the final & optional extra credit (done right after). You've got a lot of chances to improve your grade and he gives you everything you need to pass. Just do the practice tests and look at the study sheets and you'll do well.

I genuinely liked this class. You have to study alot but its well worth it. I took this class after student teaching and really wished I had before I did the edTPA. There are a lot of materials to help so utilize them all! Flashcards did not help me! You need to know concepts and how to apply them to different situations.

Don't know what everyone's problem with him is, or why he has such a high failure rate. Gives you everything you need at the start, including a book of practice exams that are very similar to the real thing. Honestly one of my easier classes this semester. Like, really, that's not a humblebrag. Just study, you'll be okay.

This teacher gives you all of the materials which you need to do well in the class. His lectures are very dry but he does love teaching the class. I have never EVER failed a class before, and this is my first. He is a very sweet man, but has had the same teaching style for over 20 years. I would strongly suggest to avoid this class if possible

Dr. Herman is awful. Absolutely awful. I have never, ever failed a class in my life until I took ed psych with him. He is unclear, he rambles, he's incredibly boring, and his exams are long and difficult. On top of that, your only grades for this class are the four exams and the final. I would avoid him at all costs.

Dr. Herman is very nice and provides us with so many resources to help us succeed. However, lectures can be very dry and it is hard to sit through lectures. He is so enthusiastic about the course and wants us to be just as enthusiastic.

I ended up taking this class twice with this professor. I did not pass either time. Every time I went for help, he did not do a very good job with it. I studied what he told us to study for his test and none of the material that he told us to study was not on the test. I wish I could have taken this class with another teacher.

Dr. Herman is interesting...he knows his stuff and wants his students to really learn the material, but some may have a difficult time in his class due to his teaching style. He speaks as if he's excited about everything, and good for him if he is, but some may not do well with that teaching style. I did well though and I enjoyed the class.

Herman is one of the few professors I have encountered who vividly expresses his excitement for what he teaches. He provides students with every possible resource to succeed. For those who want to become teachers, his class is EXTREEMELY valuable! His class is upper division so don't expect to be given all the answers with minimal effort.

Avoid this professor at all costs. He gives multiple choice test where you have to pick the best answer and then he misspells words to trick students into picking the wrong answers. He doesn't teach the subject so prepare to teach yourself.

Let me emphasize what someone said before: it is VERY difficult to motivate yourself to go to class. Herman's nice, but he's all over the place when he's teaching. He does give you many handouts to study but his exams are still incredibly difficult and tricky. Good luck if you're taking this course.

The lectures are incredibly boring, but the content is straightforward. If you did well in child development, you'll do well in this class. He gives a lot of study materials, which is helpful, but it's very difficult to pay attention and motivate yourself to go to class.

If you read his notes and take the practice exams seriously, you will not fail this course. However, because Dr. Herman does so much to help you, it makes lectures tough for some people. I enjoyed his style, but can understand why some would switch off and either sleep or doodle, as some did in my class. However, I recommend Dr. Herman to anyone

I absolutely love this class...its one of my favorites. He really gets you to think and look at these topics in a different light. Always energetic and helpful, I think he's one of the best professors. Its a morning class, and I never fall asleep.

I hated this class. Definately do not take it at 8:00 in the morning, because you will sleep. The material he tries to "teach" is horrible. I'm sorry if you have to take the class.

Dr. Herman rocks!! He really focuses on mastery of the course information and provides many study tools. If a person fails a class with Herman it has to be because they don't study AT ALL. Super nice guy and totally approachable. Dr. Herman has to be the kindest prof. I have ever encountered.
