Great teacher I learned a lot and it has helped me in ever class I have had since. I learned how to write a proper paper. I took him twice and would recommend him. Just know he means business this is not a simple class, you actually have to work, but you will learn, and his lectures are fascinating!

professor Ryder teach the class from a philosophical view, unlike other teaches he doesn't mind if u turn ur papers late.He just want to know if u are ready and prepared when writing a organized essay.He also emphasize to use correct MLA format,he points out whatever mistakes u did and expect you to not do them again in the next paper.good teacher

Professor Ryder is an exceptional professor. He's not conventional. He is easy going, fair, deeply philosophical, and cares TREMENDOUSLY about the success of his students. You can learn MUCH from him if approach his class with an open mind. He has dramatic health/back issues that results in occasional absences. This doesn't diminish his value.

Great class I had no idea what I was getting into.This class is set up for a student to learn from the beginning to the end.The assignments and reading were all good and interesting. If you need a teacher standing over you to make sure you turn in work. This is not the class for you. Not a hard class to pass. I got a "A" he is recommended

Ryder is a really nice man, but as a teacher he is very unorganized and inconsistent. He gives alot of grace when it comes to turning things in late, but its hard to communicate and alot of the dates are wrong, i felt constantly confused and behind. didnt learn anything about english, hes passionate about thinking independently & teaches that!

I took his online 101 class. Worst idea EVER! he is horible. Does not communicate anything with you, never has the right due dates. If its Fall semester he says something is sue in the Spring. He does not e-mail anyone back. My class started out with 30 people we are down to 6. Thats how many people dropped it. DO NOT TAKE

I took his English 101 online class, and Ive never made a bigger mistake. week 1, he forgot to make forums available. Week 2, he had inconsistent due dates. It takes him at least 4 days (if your lucky) to get a response. The organization of the class was horrendous. I decided to drop it before I ended up failing it. Take at your own risk!

Professor Ryder is awesome! He definitely cares about his students learning and I thought his class was going to be harder, since I took it in the summer, but it was great! We had 3 writing assignments, 6-8 papers each. Easy class, he is a fair grader, he grades on overall improvement and learning. Learned so much in his class. Take him!

Took him quite some time ago and hated the class. Every time a paper was due, he would tell the class to turn it in with the next paper. By the end of the class we had no final just turning in all of the papers, going the entire semester without any idea of our grade. Never responded to emails or any communication.

It is pretty much a hybrid class, almost all of the work is online. It is very easy to fall behind in this class because he falls behind. If you answer a question in class, and it's not what he wants to hear, he'll call you pretentious. Lots of cancelled classes however!

Prof. Ryder is the most brilliant teacher I've worked with. His lessons are interesting and the essay assignments are challenging yet mentally and mechanically stimulating. I've never taken a class that I have gotten so much out of. I will absolutely be taking 102 with him.

FREAKING AWESOME!! Ryder is amazing. So helpful, makes science fiction the coolest class ever. The discussions are very intellectual and he makes you think! Only 4 papers and google group, there is a lot of reading..but its FUN reading not boring :) MADE AN 8am SO MUCH FUN!

i've taken 2 classes w/CC (101, 281). He's amazing. I'm not a scifi person, but still enjoyed it. Writing was fun, super laid back atmosphere. overall a good semester. Sci Fi class I took because Ryder was teaching.Its hard to get into when you aren't a sci fi buff.There are 4 papers: 3 assigned topics that you need to encorporate the reading into; 1 group story where you create a universe 2gether and write your story within it. Also, there's an online discussion forum where sci fi fanatics can get obsessive.
