This class is tough! I am a straight A student, until now. I worked really hard to receive a B in his class. He gives pop quizzes that he grades VERY strictly. 10-15 page group paper due at the end of semester. 3 tests that are VERY hard. Typically the answers to test questions are minute details from the book

Comment:

Class is interesting, he is a good teacher but his tests are hard and he doesn't curve. He doesn't teach what is on the test and he is a strict grader on his pop quizzes. There is a 10 page paper due in the class that he wants you to do in a group. Take someone else.

Tests are very hard. It is a good idea to go to class because he has a bunch of random quizzes. There is a big group research paper due at the end of the semester. He is very knowledgeable about the subject but forgets his students are not. He is rude at times and has no problem making you feel stupid if you do ask a dumb question.

Class is not mandatory but he does have random pop quizzes. will call on you in class- but follows straight along with the book (not difficult to answer). he posts the answers to the end of chapter questions online. THESE are the key to his quizzes and tests. Get to use a cheat sheet on tests, copy examples from hw problems and you'll do fine.

Comment:

Very passionate about Commercial Law. I've heard that he has made the class more difficult since I had him, but he is a good teacher. He is very fair and understanding. If you have any issues or problems he will help you. Just read the book(if you're not a reader, at least skim it!) But he keeps class interesting and loves (intelligent)questions.

This is the worst teacher I've ever had. REALLY try and not to take him. I am a very good accounting student, but I got a C in his class. It is sooooo unbelievable boring. Take someone else for Tax.

He is the absolute worst professor. He is old and confused, hard of hearing, boring, and not helpful at all. Treats students like they are little children. Very rigid and old-fashioned. Just awful all-around.

The worst instructor that I have ever had!!! Donot take him. He is boring (reads only from the book) and his tests are very hard. For example a test will cover 4 chapters, but the test will only have 30 questions on it. He gives you know idea what to study.

HORRIBLE professor! Useless lectures, but you have to go for the quizzes. AVOID him, he thinks he's better than everyone, very arrogant teacher. Waaaay too demanding

Subject is boring but professor attempts to make it humorous. Good guy and will answer questions as they are brought up. All PowerPoint lectures (from book maker), textbook's tests. Get the book's study guide for better test grades (I found out hard way).

Comment:

Dr. McDowell's lectures are sometimes interesting, but its hard to make the subject matter interesting. His tests are sometimes confusing, but if you read the chapters and do the online study, it will be an easy B. The court case is hard to do if you work 40 hours and then do school. I had to sit for about 6 hours waiting for my case to show.

interesting personal experiences, but that's about it. study the book, use the online quizzes, go to class. pop quizzes that he makes up are frequent, three tests from a test bank are hard. the court case paper is ridiculously and unrealistically demanding, best tip is to use the video archives office. semi-hard class, much worse with this guy.
