He is seriously so amazing. He really cares about your GPA so he offers TONS of extra credit. He also loves showing off the pictures of plants and insects he takes. Seriously a real gem! Favorite professor by far :)

Dr. Wang's exams are unpredictable but he makes up for it with a ton of extra credit, a whole exam worth of it. The course description is misleading, you don't learn much about evolution and he focuses way too much on plant biology.

A very difficult class for the material presented. His exams are incredibly difficult compared to what he teaches in lecture. There is a lot of extra credit available.... if you don't have work or other classes. He also leaves out information from his uploaded PowerPoint vs what he uses in lecture.

Comment:

Dr. Wang is funny and goes out of his way to make ecology interesting to you. Attendance isn't mandatory but show up because he gives plenty of exam hints. There's also a huge amount of extra credit offered (I mean mutliple percentages at the end) for attending interesting events. I would LOVE to take another course with him. Great professor.

Horrible at communicating. Very boring. Tests not written by the professor, but are selected from a database of ecology questions, so often not related to material covered in class. The e.c. mentioned in other posts is misleading because the opportunities are outside class like attending extra lectures or weekend activites around the indy area.

His exams were easy. Even though the topics covered were boring, he found ways to make the class fun and interesting. Plus, he's quick to respond to emails and questions. I'd highly recommend him as a teacher.

Worst professor I have ever had at IUPUI. His tests were very poorly written. He no longer gives xc for attending class. The final was cumulative when he said it would not be. He was never in his office for his scheduled office hours. Terrible professor.

Dr. Wang is a nice guy but he is kind of shy and not terribly interesting or challenging as a lecturer. His exam questions are usually either too easy, too obscure, or too poorly written. Overall not too hard but you might not learn too much.

Material of the class is not difficult. However, the professor struggles with communication skills and lacks sensitivity. The tests do not always reflect a person's knowledge on the topics. The tests often ask about random, unimportant facts on the powerpoint slides.

Dr. Wang is the Superman of the Biology Department! This guy is awesome, his exams are based off the Powerpoints so you only need to look over the slides like 3 hours before the test to get an A, you get 60 extra credit points, and he is incredibly nice. This class takes a few hours every 3-4 weeks, no worries, ah, I wish every class was like his!

His tests were extremely hard and based on random facts from the powerpoints. The textbook is not useful for passing the class because he only bases his tests on the powerpoints. He was hard to understand and we had a substitute for about 3 weeks in the class who was not helpful at all.

BY FAR ... the easiest Biology professor at IUPUI. The material is rather dry, but as long as you show up ... You'll get an A. Only two major assignments in the entire class ... both of which I finished over a weekend. If you want an easy A, TAKE THIS CLASS!!!
