Comment:

Dr. Zelbert Moore is one true academic. He is not so much of a "teacher" but rather a vast wealth of knowledge on Latin America, amongst other topics. I wish I could sit with him all day and pick his brain. Smartest man on campus.

I had professor Moore in 1984 and he was one of the best professors at New Paltz. He is very knowledgeable about his area of expertise. He will earn you grade and you will also obtain knowledge from his classes. I took 4 of his classes while I was at NP. I left the college but I remember him as on of the best professor.

He doesn't follow the syllabus at all. Answer or ask a question be ready to be yelled at. Doesn't answer e-mails , and doesn't like anyone's thoughts even though he asks. No drinking water or eating anything in class. Not sure how this professor is still at the university, for he has taken my excitement about the topic and destroyed it for me.

Very hard and confusing teacher, but he cares a lot more about effort and attendance than the written work. He assigns a lot of readings which is a must! I bombed both the midterm and final, but I got a B because I participated and showed up to every class. Hard class but effort really pays off.

Had him for afro-latin american civ in fall 2011. great guy i barely did the reading and i only went to like half the classes and still got a B. As long as you participate in his class you'll be fine. I should have went to class more but still walked away with a good grade. This man is a genius by the way. I really learned something from him.

i cant understand why everyone hates this teacher so much. I loved his class and his bottomless amount of wisdom/knowledge . Yes there is a lot of reading but i messed up both tests bad cause i couldnt keep up and still got a B because i ALWAYS had something to contribute. He values that and attendance above tests. he says so in the beg. of class.

The hardest class I took all year, yet also the one I learned the most in. Yes, he can be crazy and start raising his voice but it's all for a purpose. Prof Moore is brilliant. Hes harsh and people tend to misinterpret his personality as hostility. Hes just blunt. If what you say makes no sense, hell let you know. His readings are intense, about 200 pgs of small font per week. This wouldnt be SO bad if you didnt have to take notes on it, but you do. The class is all discussion on the readings.

Moore is the professor you need to take in order to see life differently. He will kick your butt 10 ways to Tusan but you will see the world differently. If you want an "EASY" A, don't take the class. Get your name known and you will get an A. OPINIONS WIN OUT HERE.

I got an A in his class. Yea it's difficult but he tells you exactly what to read and you just have to come to class and if you read you know your stuff. I barely talked in his class but he does like participation. I went to every class to make up for it. Interesting material, learned a lot. Only a midterm and final. Buy the books as you go.

REALLY bad teacher. This guy tries to scare his students into believing his conspiracy stories... i failed to learn anything valuable. He does not teach "how the world works." He does not teach at all, but references the textbook in an incomprehensible way. No real notes or syllabus, I learned from the textbook and "unlearned" from his lectures.

Moore is harsh, and while in class with him I thought he was trying to kill me but only after finishing did I realize what he was doing for us. Sure he would go off on tangents of conspiracies but he's one of the few teachers who really helped to prepare me for the real world, he is a great teacher, anyone who thinks otherwise didnt understand him

Z is a beast. One of the best professor in terms of prepping you for how the real world ends up treating you. NO hand holding what so ever, here is the info, we shall discuss and there it is. Hard to believe this man is allowed to teach. Terrible classroom manner - he gets very upset and raises his voice often, making the learning experience uncomfortable. He rambles and goes on tangents, making him hard to follow. And he is a bona fide conspiracy nut, which should disqualify him from teaching any kind of history automatically.
