I had Dr. Gimpelevich as my course instructor on several occasions while I completed my B.A and M.A in Russian at the University of Waterloo. Zina is one of the nicest people you will ever meet; she takes a genuine interest in the success of each of her students. She keeps the class lighthearted and encourages learning with candy rewards. A+

Zina is amazing. She gives out candy, marks super easy, and is totally creative. I felt like I understood nothing, but exited the class with a 98 somehow. She has the greatest fashion sense, and she's pretty good looking for a middle-aged woman. Loved her, and she's totally friendly and will talk to you if she sees you outside of class Оm

Comment:

Very nice professor. She gives out candy, knows your name (well your given Russian name), sings, and is a pretty easy marker. Be sure to study the dialogues - though you're not marked, it can be embarrassing not knowing them. She lets us watch Russian cartoons and makes us sing songs. Russian can be tough to learn but she makes it easy.

She is the nicest prof I've had so far. She is so motherly, always gives out chocolate and candy, and cares a lot about her students. The course material itself can be challenging due to the difficulty of the language itself, but she is a great helper and easy-marker so this will be your highest mark in your entire uni life!

If you have the opportunity to take a Russian literature course taught by Prof. Gimpelevich, you are in for a treat. She is passionate about the subject and very knowledgeable. Don't let her sweet smile and the sugary snacks she brings to class fool you into thinking she is anything short of brilliant! Come with an original thought-she values that!

She definetly gives lots of candy and seems very nice at first. Although she is pretty clear about everything, she makes you feel stupid if you don;t know the answer to something. She is pretty helpful, however in speaking tests when you say something in english she never understand that you don't know how to say it in Russian. Easy tests.

Prof Gimpelevich is a wonderful teacher, and I have nothing but respect and admiration for her ability to put up with students fumbling through this difficult language. The tests were somewhat challenging, I can still recall our daily songs, and as a class the supplied sugar intake should be legendary. Correct your homework for better marks.
