Do not take him. I had important family matters to attend to and sent a link to withdraw from the course. He does not care at all. Lectures about everything but the class and especially complains about students he had in the past. Don't set yourself up for failure taking his class. Pick a different professor.

Prof. Ford wastes a lot of time telling jokes and "stories". He often doesn't answer the questions posed to him clearly. I am an older student with some upper biology credits and I am shocked at how difficult this introductory class is. I wish i knew about this site before registering for his class.

You will use an online textbook that charts your progress using quizzes. Easy enough. The modules are clearly defined. Tests at the end of each module. Not too hard if you read the textbook and also the teacher's additional lecture reading. I enjoyed the material and recommend the class.

Horrible teacher, he doesn't talk about how much online work is due, during lecture you will ask questions and he will put you down rather than add on to information. Unorganized, tries to be funny, and do bad job at explanations. Demanding in time, and mean personality. Do not take the course.

A total of 10 people had dropped out of the class, because of him. He doesn't explain anything, and when you do ask him a question, he says to "Google it". All the homework and quizzes are due before we go over the lecture so you don't understand anything. There isn't enough room on here to explain why I HATE HIM! ITS ACADEMIC SUICIDE TO HAVE HIM!

550 point course. 400 comes from 5 100 point tests (4 unit exams, one of which will be dropped, and a final worth the same) 100 comes from 2 lab practicals (easier than tests) and 50 comes from mastering biology quizzes. This being said, there is little leeway for major errors since the grade is 100% test/quiz basis. Good luck if you take Ford.

The highlight in Mr. Fords class was laughing at his inabiliy to teach. A waste of time and money! He's a smart man but cannot teach if his life depended on it. HE IS A GPA KILLER! There were about six people left in class before I dropped it! NEVER AGAIN!

Mr.Ford seems to be more of a clinician than teacher but he gives plenty of supplemental study material that can help you study. I could have gone without the book but the mastering biology website was a great help. He's a nice man you just have to plan on studying on your own for a good grade.The final was way easier than any of his tests.

This is the complete honesty for those of you who care. He knows his stuff but sometimes when you ask questions, he never really answers it..just walks around it. He acts out like a child most of the time, i think he is a lonely guy, he says that our live should be miserable. PLEASE DONT TAKE HIM.THERE WAS ONLY 6 PEOPLE LEFT IN OUR CLASS, FROM 34

Not a dynamic lecturer at all. Knows his stuff but doesn't know how to make it hold one's interest. Labs more often than not failed to work out for most students. Tests are difficult and students are on their own for preparation, though to be fair reality is often like that. There are better choices for BSC1010. Do your research on this site.

He seems like a nice enough guy, but his teaching skills are lacking. This was the hardest class I have taken at SCC, more than half of the people in my class dropped. You really have to study and read the book.

Not a good professor, but OK. Ambiguous at times and went on tangents. Did go over material on tests beforehand but sometimes what he placed importance on was questionable. Not as bad as a lot are making him out to be. I suspect most of these are whining crybabies who flunked. Still, I'm not in any hurry to take him again.
