Very tough class, even for me as a music major. He calls out people (especially if its a small group), so make sure youre paying attention and take good notes. Be prepared for exams and there will also be a lot of writing involved. Would not recommend this class for non-majors.

Have come to know this professor over the last few years, have a great deal of respect for him. Almost certain he is an oxford grad so comments about being 'pretencious' are ridiculous. He is the real deal-meaning, he is truly educated and refuses to lower the bar to fit the sub-american standand towards the arts. If you work, are serious- do it.

have him as a professor for music history AND arts & the creative process. A very gifted/talented man but the worst teacher! VERY PRETENTIOUS & ARROGANT! completely belittles students & does not care about them in the slightest. don't ever ask questions,you'll just get an attitude back.if you're a non music major and decided to take arts...DROP IT!

Really gifted and experienced. He knows music better than anyone. The classes are vigorous, but think about it, he expects a lot out of us, and it has a great reflection on the school's music program. Once you get the hang of it, it can be really fun. He knows his stuff very well.

Knows a lot, but he is one heck of a pretentious schmuck. I know plenty of professors that are just as smart as he is, yet they approach nowhere near the level of arrogance that he does. Of course you can blame it on him being European, but at bottom, it doesn't seem like he takes a liking for teaching. Being a professor is just a gig to him.

i dont know the code for orchestra. this guy is definitely something. i dont think he is doing a good job with the orchestra since the majority of it is strings and he doesnt like wind instruments in his orchestra. so if you dont play a string instrument and are a brown-nose-r, then go for it, because you have to, to get a good grade. NOT GOOD!

This guy is a total ****. I mean sure, he knows alot, but what good is knowledge if you are too arrogant and obnoxious to teach it properly? He is condescending, extremely callous with students, and his classes are absolutely unbearable. He thinks a "B" is a good grade, so even on the off chance he actually likes you, you will still not do well.

ARROGANT TO THE MAX!!! WTF!!! Critical in a very negative way...no talent, stop playing, great talent and you mess up once, stop playing...expects you to know European conducting/teaching styles...I thought I was in the states...students come last to everything...he's a figure head for the university NOT an educator...avoid this class!
