Comment:
Extraordinary teacher- will scare the crap out of 1Ls and expects you to be both prepared and intelligent if he calls on you. That being said, he does not make you feel like an utter imbecile if you're not perfect, and is tremendously helpful if you ask questions one-on-one.

You people who whine about your poor exam scores (and thus hurting your chance at a 1L summer associate position) are the kind of d-bags that make lawschool miserable for normal people. Of course his class is hard--you think practicing law will be easy? If you want an easy time, go to B-school.

Discussions in class were difficult, exam even more so. However, Prof. Becker's attitude was that it would be useless to make the class easy-actual property law was less important than the reasoning skills.

Hardest professor I ever had in my life, but also the best. I learned more about law from this man that I could have ever hoped for.

I think Becker is a good prof. I can understand the negative criticism. It took me a while to warm up to him but in the end he really is a great prof from whom I learned a great deal. He is very helpful outside of class and bascially a very kind man although he is intimidating at first.

He's in the top two of professors I've had in law school. His class is hard, but that's because he teaches legal analysis (and a little property) -- and that's a hard subject to learn.

Prof can't give a clear answer. We'd ask questions, he'd ramble. He'd approve seminar topic and then retract months later. I don't understand why so many students privately detest his teaching and then publically laud him.

This man taught me most of what I leared about how to examine cases and think about the common law. You will only really learn future intersts, but you will also learn how to form an argument. It wont be clear if you are not thinking about clearly.

Comment:
Just because a class is difficult or certain students could not succeed in the class does not justify some of the ratings submitted here. Professor Becker is a professor that seeks to teach a thought process rather than subject matter. Students that "don't get it" will find that they probably shouldn't be practicing law in the first place.

Becker is usually incomprehensible even before "lunch". His questions were interspered within a rambling ten minute speech. Ask for clarification and he'll go through the speech again. The final sucked: computer users forced to hand write first and then transcribe to paper.

One of 2 best professors in entire law school. Taught me how to think like an attorney. It is hard, buit then so are most things worth achieving. Any attorney not using the skills he teaches must be practicing traffic law.

Becker is a great teacher- but prepared to be twisted and turned around so that you are not even sure if you are speaking English
