Comment:

Dr. Burkett was an amazing professor. I had him for BIO 130 and he was very professional and helpful. Even though his tests are hard, if you attend lecture and study a lot, it is very easy to pass. He has so many ways for you to get an A, he wants you to pass. His grading is strict, but every test is only worth 10% of my grade. He was a great prof.

Comment:

Dr. Burkett was always very nice to me, though I had him in an online class. The tests are extremely difficult, even with a lot of studying. Also, for a 2 credit class, the homework load is super high. I spend more time on his class than some of my 3 credit classes. If you take his class, memorize google earth, the text book and his presentations.

He words his tests and quizzes so that you will not get an A in Principles of Biology. He has admitted in class that he tries to trick us. The class average is a D- right now. He doesn't care if you know the material or not, he cares if you can decode his quizzes. Study for 2 hours or 8 you will still get the same grade because of wording.

I knew it'd be tough going into it, but he was disrespectful& not helpful. I sought his advice&guidance when I felt like I wasn't doing well. His advice-"stop reading the book"¬hing more. My grade rested on the outcome of a lab, it was the last day to withdrawal&he didn't email until 3weeks later saying,"You chose correct." Referring to me w/dr

Excellent professor! Do not take his class if you're expecting an easy grade. He is clear in his expextations, but he also makes you work for the grade. There is plenty of opportunities to earn extra points, but you have to work for those as well. Read and re-read the material! Do not skip anything and you will do just fine!

Have him for Bio 130 right now. If you had a good AP Bio teacher this class will be a review. If not, it's still not that bad as long as you work hard. Take good notes and study them. Also, read the text. His quizzes are tricky and tests require that you know everything he says in lecture. Study. Very nice guy and he knows what he's talking about.

He is an amazing professor! He is helpful and gives you the info needed to succeed its up to you to learn it. I recommened always going to his office! I've earned alot of points back on test and quizes by proving i know the material. Plus if you go to his office, he knows you care so hes more lenient! hes awesome but the class is difficult!

Had BIO 130 with him freshman year. He is hard, and his expectations are very reasonable but intimidating. That said, a better science lecturer you will never find. Learn exactly what he tells you to study in class and you'll get an A. Expected to spend 1-2 hours outside of each lecture and 5 before and exam studying. Great Professor.

eh. i agree with people that he was very energetic and passionate about what he was teaching, but his tests only consist of trick questions. he tries to trick you on quizzes and tests instead of ask normal straight forward questions. i would take a different teacher

Energizes classroom. Keeps your interest without fail. Unrivaled passion for subject. Great at explaining things so that you can understand them. Very fair, and you can argue points on exams - if you convince him, you get some credit back. Very hard - as he says, you EARN an A in his class. Not recommended for non-majors.
