Benson is a super nice guy but I found it difficult to go to his lectures. He does use clickers for attendance, and the lectures aren't horrible. Really easy class if you show up and pay attention. He does try to make the material fun and interesting, but lets be honest, how much can you do with topics like biosecurity and emergent animal mngmt.

Take this as your second writing requirement. It has a few papers that are due close to each other and it takes him forever to grade them. Tests are easy if you know whats on the power points. This class is time consuming with homework, projects, and papers. Not hard to get a good grade and there are tons of extra credit opportunities.

Dr. Benson is one of my favorite professors at UD. His Emergency Animal Management course was writing intensive, but it was very interesting. He was clearly passionate about the subject which made his lectures a lot more engaging. He gave weekly quizzes that helped reiterate main concepts and prepared me for the exams. One of my favorite classes!

A lot of work for a 100 level class. Expect to do about 4-8 hours a week outside class on various assignments. However, if you keep up with it and ask him if need be (he is very helpful outside of class) you should be fine. Also if you have taken a CISC course it will help also but not required. I took CISC181 and found the class to be cake.

Dr. Benson is an excellent professor, but is unfortunately locked into teaching 3 semesters worth of comp. sci. in one. This can be taxing for students that lack programming experience, but is an issue within the curriculum not his teaching.
