After a year at chemeketa this was by far the hardest class I've had, lots of long homework assignments, tough grading (95on rough draft, 95 on final even after fixing), and not always very clear what the prompts of the assignment were. The syllabus was a copy paste many dates were wrong. She gives great feed back on your work and expect to work

Eva was great and helpful other than being very harsh with her grading and this was entry-level writing. All through high school, I was told that my essays would always be A+ material but as soon as I got into her class I got nothing but negative feedback. We were expected to do a lot, and no extra credit was available.

She is a tough grader & a little challenging to work with. Be prepared to read three novels throughout the term and at least two short stories weekly. SO much reading & group work. 90% of the reading is pretty dark. Wouldnt recommend.

Eva was great. She only asks that you put some thought into your work. However, from my experience with other summer classes, I must say this class required A LOT of work. There is also a group project which I've never had in an online class. Also, it was kind of disappointing that her assignments had so many errors, like she didn't proofread.

Miss Eva Payne cares very much about your success. She's specific in her feedback about how you may improve your writing. Although she's fairly merciful, you have to show that you put much time, effort, and thought into your papers in order to receive that mercy. She responds quickly by email and even spends the weekend grading papers.

WR115 online has been awesome. Clear expectations and quick to respond to e-mail when I had questions. She gets essays back with LOTS of helpful feedback within just a few days. I like her short video messages that help explain the assignment. I'd recommend her .

Don't take WR227 from Eva Payne! Eva isn't fair with her grading. We're required to do a peer review for each assignment and my papers were WAY better than my peers' papers. Well Eva doesn't care, she'll give you the same grade anyway. You'll never receive more than a 95% on a paper, no matter how good it is. Don't take WR227 from Eva Payne!!!

Eva has been the best instructor of any course. She cares about her students. She met with me every single week because I knew that I wasn't a great writer. She answered all emails promtly and was always willing to clarify. I would love to take her again, unfortunately I've completed my writing classes!

Ms. Payne was the best writing prof I've had to date. She was VERY clear in her assignments and was extremely helpful in molding me as a writer. This class was not an easy pass, you must do the work to get an A. This includes 3 writing assignments per week: A participation response, a summary review, and an essay.

I've never had a student who gave me more helpful feedback on my writing. What's more it usually came within 24 hours of turning in my essay. Mrs. Payne is awesome and tries to make learning to write interesting and nonthreatening for students. Hard but fair grader. Good instructions for an online class.

Great instructor who responds to questions and grades work quickly. Eva's assignments are laid out in easy-to-follow steps. I got what I paid for in this course and learned how to be a better writer. The peer review was the most helpful online interaction I've experienced in two years of online classes. Recommend highly! You will learn lots!

Just finished my second week with her. I'm finding much of what other students have commented on. Her expectations with assignments are very unclear. She could work on the presentation of her feedback. Her online class doesn't have the option of a discussion forum the whole class could use. Assignments are very large. Wouldn't recommend.

Very poor teacher. The assignments were so unclear it was unreal. She managed to turn a simple memo into something so difficult you could scream. Do not take her for 227!

For an online class, I got more feedback and clarification than I would have received in a classroom. Eva was also available for office/phone consults. She read our work carefully, gave suggestions about how to improve it, and really seemed committed to helping writers at all levels of exp. It was hard but reasonable, and I learned a lot.

Eva was a good teacher in the sense that she was very passionate about the subject (poetry). Sometimes other students and I would have difficulty understanding what she wanted in her instructions, but she's willing to explain when asked. If you study your terminology this class is pretty easy to figure out. There are a lot of class discussions.

I had her for wr227, online. I drop this class as fast as I could. The class site is not set up good at all, so confusing! I had no idea what she expected even on the first assignment, all the other students were confused as well. I would recommend taking another teacher for this class.

I would not take her again or recommend her for any class. Although, I got an A out of her class I found that she was not very helpful or understanding that we as students do have a life. Very easy to get on her bad side and cannot settle conflicts in a mature manner.
