Professor Glenn Lyons is one of the finest most respected classical guitar teachers in the world. You have to be willing to practice and attend. If you are looking for an easy grade to fill your music curriculum you are in the wrong place. If you want to learn the guitar and willing to practice you will end up with a high grade.

terrible teacher. hates students. doesn't take time to teach and thinks everyone is a famous guitarist. first class made us do walking bass lines but didn't explain frets, or strings, or basically anything. is hitting 70 yrs old but wants to be 30 again. bad professor.

If you want to major in guitar DO NOT COME HERE! lyons is the only classical guitar teacher here, he has tenure so he doesn't give a sh**, and he is hands down the worst teacher i have ever had. hes a good guy, but its obvious he could care less about teaching when he eats lunch and looks out the window when you're play for him.

If you work diligently and apply yourself tirelessly to his syllabus, you will be a world beater!! He is a world class player, and it was a privilege to have him as my teacher! I only wish I had been a much better student! Slackers beware, he does have very high standards...but if you want world class chops Glenn is the man!!

yes, it's hard. but you have to practice and want to do it. i took this class a year ago and i haven't put down a guitar since then. it made me want to stay with it and learn to love it. the only person who ultimately can teach you the basics is yourself. his personality can be tough, yes, but his criticism is always spot on.

he will tell you that your guitar is crappy over and over if it is notworth more than a grand. he also files his finger nails while you are performing peices for him which is very disrespectful. he is in his own world and truly seems to be oblivious to common ways of treating people.

i never touched a guitar before, but i didn't think it was that hard. i just practiced. imagine that...you practice and you get an a. stop whining and take the instrument out of the case a couple times a week and practice. not that hard.

this man is a horrible excuse for an educator. i had absolutley no experience with guitar before going in, and after the first class he expects to know everything. He ignored all the things I did correctly and slammed me when I made a mistake, yet ignored others. I withdrew from the class after 3 weeks. do yourself a favor and take something else.

Anyone I'd talk to about Lyons told me he was a jerk and a terrible teacher, but it's been two months in his class and I don't think so. What he expects out of the class is what you should have assumed when taking it. So unless he's completely changed the way he does things, I don't agree.

I had no knowledge of guitar, but wanted to learn. Well forget that - my experience in this class, and my ending grade have taken away any desire to learn any more. This class is not about learning to play, and is definetly not geared towards beginners.
