An amazing teacher with the rare ability to guide you out of your comfort zone and help you explore different modes of thought - a great class as well.

Professor Abecassis's ID class (The Storytelling Animal) was probably the most interesting class I've ever taken. It was engaging and so relevant to life, and I was able to connect a lot of the things I learned about to my other classes.

This professor is great! He is very accommodating and willing to give extensions if you have a good reason. He gives great feedback on papers and let's you rewrite them for a better grade. We read a really long book but he timed it perfectly so that it didn't seem like a lot.

What a weird class. Some of the grammar expectations are more than I'm used to and your interpretations of the readings HAVE to match with his our he'll grade you harshly. I'm torn because I sense that if you are already pretty good at grammar and are okay with just summarizing the ideas in class you'll be fine. But if you're not, it's a struggle

I really liked Abecassis and his class--one category not rated above is his own interest and expertise in his subject, on which he would definitely receive a 5.

Can be a bit intimadating at first but he's a great professor and knows his stuff. Don't take if you want an easy class, you have to participate alot and work for an A. I'd def recommend his class if you're not a slacker. Facilitates discussions well and the readings are interesting.

I took Contemporary Israeli Film and Fiction with Jack Abecassis and it was a fabulous class. He was also my thesis adviser.

One of the two best literature classes I took at Pomona. While he teaches primarily in the french department his Contemporary Israeli Film and Fiction class was one of the highlights of my final semster at Pomona.

Abecassis is the best professor at Pomona and one of the most cynical people I have ever met. If you only take one French course at Pomona make it his. Each is really just a soap box for him to wax on modern European history, existential philosophy and his own dispariging views about society and human nature. He also works for the CIA. Do Not Miss!

Very condescending indeed, God or golden boy complex. Lacks integrity. Quick with lame excuses. In my class students wondered how much time he took to prepare (they did not feel it was enough).
