Jan is an amazing professor. You won't be disappointed. You learn a lot, and have a lot of practice with the material. The only flaw was that she drifted from the syllabus so it was hard to plan ahead. However, she made up for it by sending out weekly reminders stating exactly what was due and when which really helped.

Jan is amazing. She is so passionate about ENG477 (Literature of the Holocaust) and it shows in her lectures/presentations/grading feedback/etc. You definitely have to participate, but don't let that scare you. She honestly appreciates everyone's opinion about whatever she is teaching and would never call you out on a wrong answer.

She gives really good feedback on papers and is always willing to help during office hours. Her classes were interesting and engaging. One thing that I really liked about her class was that she would have peer editing days. These days helped me strengthen my writing and my revising skills, while also getting good feedback from others.

Jan is a good teacher and great person. She is enthusiastic and loves what she teaches. However, she gives A LOT of homework and often adds on new assignments that aren't on the syllabus. Her syllabus isn't clear, but she does post the assignments on Blackboard each week. If you need a lot of structure and a set syllabus, I would maybe reconsider.

Take her if you can. By far the best English professor I've had so far. She expects a lot from you, but is always there to help and the readings she picks are almost always interesting. Only 2 papers a semester, and they're always either creative or up for revision. I love Jan!

Jan is engaging, and generally knows her material well, but she's all over the place. Her class feels like a book club. She also can't write, which is frustrating in an English professor. Her blackboard posts are filled with typos and grammatical errors.

I LOVE JAN! She is very insightful and extremely helpful if you need clarification or just any form of advice on life. If you think her class is hard or too much, that means there is something wrong with you because if you're an Eng. major you should love her class and the amount of great literature you read in her class.She is also very organized!

Jan is a great professor! She really knows her stuff! She is not at all disorganized. She tells you exactly what you have to do, if you can't follow it, that's on you. She is really smart, and will help you if you need any form of guidance. She is very passionate about Eng. and if you are an English major you should really enjoy her class.

Jan is a very nice woman and enthusiastic professor but she is very disorganized. If you need structure, don't take her classes. DO NOT miss class. If you're the kind of person who sleeps in sometimes she WILL fail you. She will not be kind if you miss class for whatever reasons, including family emergencies or disabilities.

This professor is so disorganized that the inconvenience and re-work it causes students far overrides her "niceness." She is, btw, not so kind when called out on her lack of congruency in the classroom - even when the ENTIRE class needs clarification. Her style is open discussion, which NEVER changes because she refuses to learn technology. BEWARE.

Jan is great! She's a tough grader, but she really does take genuine interest in every one of her students and wants you to enjoy and actually LEARN the subject matter. What a neurotic! I seriously believe there's a psychiatric disorder here. A woman who is a bundle of nerves. Sure, an easy grader - she probably can't deal with the stress of an upset student if she gave a low grade. Helps everyone out of some imaginary fear in her head.
