Has an open door policy. Great teacher- appreciates questions, can ask questions outside of class whenever you need to. Good sense of humor. You will work hard, but you'll get a lot out of it, never feel like you're on your own to learn everything. He also made the subject very interesting.

Bends over backwards for his students! Students would occupy the room next to his office & he would help us study for exams 1&2 days before the exams. He even led a late night study session the day before the final to help us even though his daughter had just had surgery to get screws removed from her arm that morning. A+ prof in and out of class!

AWESOME teacher. Extremely enthusiastic and makes class fun/interesting. Tests can be somewhat difficult, but if you need help, go to him outside of class during his office hours. He is very available and will answer any questions you have, and he will make sure you understand the answer. Awesome guy.

Best teacher I've ever had for anything. He is amazing. He sticks to relevant things. He is incredibly enthusiastic and incredibly willing to help. He is clear and workload is not too bad. He truly cares about his students. Highly suggest taking him for class. He is brilliant

Kern is probably the most interesting math teacher i've ever had. He teaches with such enthusiasm that it really makes the class enjoyable and makes you want to learn. He's soooo helpful, I was basically in his office everyday asking questions, he's so down to earth and really funny. I wish I could take every math class with him!

While the class it self was very difficult, the fact that he was the teacher made it so much more enjoyable. I looked forward to class every day and when I had problems with material he was always willing to help. It also helps that he's hilarious and extremely enthusiastic. Definitely my favorite teacher of all time.

Professor Kern's course was challenging, but he provided as much support as was necessary and often held study sessions during his office hours. He was definitely concerned with whether students were learning the material. The classroom environment was very entertaining and kept students alert at all times. He is the best professor I've had.

I love his enthusiam! He was always trying to make you enjoy Statistics in some way. He even dressed up as a table of integrals for Halloween! You learn alot, but do have to work for it. Take his class if you can!
