José Cano is amazing. He's a great teacher, and he keeps his word. If you speak Spanish the entire time, you will get an A+, guaranteed. Beware he does pay very close attenction to who speaks English and who speaks Spanish. The man's like a ghost too, you never know when he's around. He's also freaking hilarious.

People complain that Prof. Cano expects you to memorize every single word from the textbook but that's just wrong. He wants you to understand the meaning and express it in your own words. I know this cuz this is my 3rd language. Pay a very close attention to his lecture because he doesn't rely on ppt much. Your listening will def. improve.

Professor Cano is hilarious. The class is definitely not an easy elective, but if you put in a little effort, an A is definitely manageable. Weekly quizzes for the first half of the semester, but questions are given in advance. Exams are 2 parts over 2 class periods. First half is all questions from the quizzes and second half is a case study.

Cano is HILARIOUS! Absolutely love this professor. I am Hispanic and have taken other Spanish classes here at the university, but I have not enjoyed any class more than I have his! He really care's about his students, but he makes your work for your grade. Talk in class and show him you are really trying!

Dr. Cano's Commercial Spanish class seems scary at first, but stick with it. He makes the course a lot easier as you go. His teaching style requires you to read to do well, but you really do learn a lot. He's also pretty funny and much more laid back than he seems at first. Hardest I've worked in a Spanish class, but worth it. He's a good prof!

I loved Professor Cano. Because this is Spanish Conversation, participation is necessary. But, as long as you try your best, he rewards you with a good grade. This class is not difficult- do the homework (not frequent), participate, and focus on presentations. There are no tests. Easy A, awesome professor!

The best professor UA has on staff. Helpful understanding and most importantly patient. He exlains the material and actually gets hurts if the students do not perform well because he is ultra caring. If you wanna have fun while learning please take him!

Easily my favorite class that I've taken at UA so far. Cano is absolutely hilarious and a great teacher. This class is super easy as well, pretty much a guaranteed A as long as you show up. It doesn't matter how good you are at Spanish - as long as you try your best, he'll give you a good grade.

Excellent teacher - you would be a fool to pass on an opportunity to take his class. After one semester under his guidance, I emerged a far more confident and proficient Spanish teacher. Participate and demonstrate that you care about learning and you will get an A. He won't penalize you for being bad at Spanish, only for not trying.

He can be a bit off putting, I hated him the first half of the semester, he forces you to work hard, you MUST do your work or you may as well not bother coming. He is HILARIOUS and class flies by with him, just be prepared to work, and not speak a word of English or he'll go off on you.

This is my 3rd class with Cano. Every time I have him I see more sides of how brilliant he is. He said he was going to change this class from what we did (analyzing excerpts) to more multiple choice (plot-based) tests. I hate lit, but I actually enjoyed his way of teaching our class.
