He's just the greatest. Greek is one of the hardest courses offered at Carleton because of the complexity of the language - but it was honestly my favourite class because of him. He's brilliant, hilarious and charming :)

Josh may be the best prof I have ever had. Definitely one of the smartest, and certainly one of the best teachers. He was wasted teaching intro Greek and Classical Lit in translation, of course, but who has basic linguistic skills in English much less classical Greek these days. A mentor and friend to generations of Carleton students.

This Professor was really interesting, and knows everything there is to know about Greek and Latin Literature. Classes were long, but that was expected as it was a 3 hour night class. Material was interesting, and the assignments and exams were reasonable. Overall, great prof! Really enjoyed the class

Comment:

Greek and Latin Literary Genres plus night time class plus 3 hours equal boring. Beer would get tired near the end of it and would end up giving random facts that had no relevance to the course material. The fact that he has an awesome accent slightly improved the situation. He?s a nice guy though and if you like accents this is the proff for you.

Reminds me of prof. Snape from Harry Potter but only nicer. Great guy, bought us drinks at Mike's and we had a rockin' class party at the end..well a wine and cheese that involved amounts of other alcohol. He's a bit dry at times but overall a good prof.

Love the accent, esp. while he's singing! Always good for a laugh, but I never went to the class for the material. Sometimes dances or reads out the plays with a student. TAKE THIS CLASS!!

Josh Beer is a living legend. Great prof, hardcore football fan, cracks jokes in the class and on a cigarette break with his students. Genuinely cool guy, amazing storyteller. Made my jaw hurt after he sang a song about few little doggies - remind him of it and you got yourself a memory of a lifetime.
