By far, the worst professors I have ever had in my 3 years at Binghamton. I have never met a professor (or person in general) that can care less about their students. Not willing to help in anyway possible, she gives you 3 tests the entire semester that are essay based (impossible). Takes off points w/out explanation and is completely out of touch.

Dr. Horwath certainly is not the most amazing professor on the planet, but she is not the worst either. Her lectures are boring, but she passes around an attendance sheet during some that she supposedly uses as "extra credit" at the end of the semester. I went to class, didn't pay attention, and just crammed the night before an exam and did fine.

These reviewers need to chill out. This class was fine. Attendance was optional, but it was beneficial to attend class. Professor Horwath could make her powerpoints more clear, but she clarifies all important material by drawing out diagrams and flowcharts. I didn't have to read a page of the textbook.

One of the worst professors. Her class is very disorganized and it is obvious that she doesn't care about her students. Her PPs are horrible and make zero sense when you try to review them. As the previous review says, her tests are essays which is awful, and she also takes points off w/out explanation. She has no clear grading criteria for exams.

She's nice, but a terrible lecturer. Her PowerPoint slides are disorganized and poorly planned. She just reads her notes off of the slides. Attendance isn't mandatory, but said she would bump your grade if you attended class, which she definitely did not do. Tests are essays, easy to predict the questions, but takes off points without explaining.

Lectures were a bit dull but pretty easily to follow along with. Just read over and memorize her powerpoints and you will get an A. She's a super lenient grader so don't be discouraged by the short essay exams.

Memorize the slides material completely and you will get very good grade, start studying 2 days before test. IT IS AN EASY CLASS IF YOU MEMORIZE, she grades VERY EASILY. The tests are essay's but easy but you need to MEMORIZE, know the main points and elaborate on them. I went to class for first two weeks and then skipped for 2 months LOL.

Her lectures can be dry and it may seem that she's just reading her slides every class, but she's receptive to questions and is a very lenient grader. However, her lecture slides can be unorganized sometimes so you might need to reference the textbook. I would take a class with her again.

In this class you give one 45 minute presentation during the semester and write a 16 page paper on your presentation topic due at the end of the semester. Most people's presentations were embarrassingly bad. She seems to have lots of interest in the topic and is an easy grader and I felt like the class was just pushing the limits of her patience.

Her PowerPoints, which she posts all of, look like they were written in haste the first time she taught the class and never touched again. Her class is straightforward and she is a generous grader. If you go to class and actually study for the exams, you'll do well. Essay test questions are simple to predict if you look at the material.

I took two classes with Horwath at the same time. Shes not very enthusiastic but her notes are online and as long as you study them you'll do good. Attendance is taken but not mandatory. Exams are essays but she grades easily.

Really don't understand why there are such bad ratings for Prof. Horwath. OK she's not the professor that will change your life with amazing lectures that you want to go to.. but show your face at office hours, read the text, and you'll be fine. Horwath is a sweet woman (again, not the most interesting), and will notice if you're trying to do well.

Took her for developmental biology. Her lecture's aren't great, but they aren't terrible. She expects you to show up for class and passes around an attendance sheet pretty regularly., but idk if it affects my grade. Her tests are essay tests, but they are shockingly easy, and she grades them easy too.

She's a really nice lady. Very open to writing letters of rec. One of the easier upper level bio courses. Really pay attention. It's worth it if you're planning on taking the mcat.

Prof. Horwath posts very cryptic power points- they're impossible to fully understand unless you follow along in class and translate each slide. She's very rude to students and supplies no study materials or subject guides. Unless you NEED this class, it's not worth the hassle. If you ask her for help she will dismiss you. Textbook wasn't helpful.

Just horrible. She is unorganized, not willing to help, and all the information comes from her jumbled PowerPoint. She'll say things like "we'll go into more detail later" but never does. You might as well skip class and memorize the power points. Oh yeah- grade is based on 3 exams and a paper. Don't have a bad exam or your grade is in the toilet.

Read off of power point slides word-for-word, which in turn were copy-pasted from the textbook. When students asked a question because they didn't understand a concept, her reply was "that's just how the enzyme works" - the student was asking about a carbohydrate... Ignored emails and was unhelpful during office hours.

Tests are ridiculous and "essay form". Does not convey her thoughts very well and does a poor job teaching you the information. Goes too quickly and will not slow down or go back for you. No.

Awful. Unorganized, unhelpful, unclear. Contradicts herself. Tests have very strange questions on them, nothing like the material covered in class or notes. Treats class like children, will not slow down (or give out notes) and will not answer questions in class or office hours.
