She's one of those professors where you take the class because you have to, not because its your major, and expects you to know any and all the information prior to going into the class. I am a Marketing major and took biology from her. I wrote a paper that was satisfactory for a business major. She got upset with me for not known specific terms.

I've had Dr. Wood for Genetics, Cell Biology, & Senior Seminar and she's an amazing professor. She isn't warm & fuzzy but if you prove you're a hard-working student that respects her time, she is always willing to speak with you. Gives amazing advice & truly wants to help students succeed IF the student also puts in work. Incredibly intelligent!

I took genetics 2 times at another university & made D's both times. She actually me understand genetics. It is a hard class as genetics in general is hard, but if you take notes, ask questions, & do the assigned reading you'll pass. She even allows extra time to finish your test which is nice.

This class is time consuming. You have a quiz every Friday, but this makes you keep up with the reading. If you take the notes in class use it as a guideline for reading the book you can do well with an avg amount of effort. She is mostly available outside of class to ask questions, but don't even try to talk if it's not within her office hrs

For all her classes she is very accessible!!! She loves they subjects she teaches (well maybe not Dev Bio) but she is very intelligent and very willing to meet if YOU make the time for it! I suggest reading the chapters and listening intently in her class!The only people that don't like her are the EXSS ppl, so just study hard!

It doesn't matter how much you study. The only way you'll make an A OR a B is if you're taking it a second time (like most students are) or if you'v taken her Cell Biology class(which isn't even a prereq). If I could go back in time, I would have taken it ANYWHERE else.

I was excited about a hard class with a helpful teacher. That is NOT the case at all. She is not clear about what she expects, and our tests never match the lecture shedule. She's not helpul at all, but treats even polite kids as a nuisance. SHe told or class she's too busy to answer emails. HORRIBLE. Acts like she has beter things to do than help.

Great teacher! What she expects from you is crystal clear in her syllabus. As long as you do the work in a timely fashion and study her review questions it is easy to make an A. You will also learn so much from her. There are no surprises from her, so just do the work expected and enjoy learning.

This was my first term at UMHB and I spoke to a few students the first week of class and found out most had taken it 2 times before,I am now going to attempt to it a second time in the fall, Iwish anyone luck, taking this class made wonder if I had a learning problem and didn't get the memo.

Good proffessor! Do not be afraid of this class. You just have to study so that you understand not just memorize a process. She likes tricky questions. Losts of extra credit available.

Dr. Woods replaced Dr. Hickman who was far more difficult at the time. Both were great professors who I learned quite a bit from. Neither were easy. Only advice I have for those that are having difficulty is schedule time to talk to Dr. Woods early and find a good study group or partner. Key word: early . . . wait too long and you won't recover
