Cares for his students, if you're attentive in class and take very detailed notes (he writes everything on the board for students), and ask questions, you'll pass this class no doubt with ease. He is understanding with clear expertise in his field, had interesting facts and exclusive knowledge on topics not a lot of people are informed about.

Overall, he is a good professor. If you do not attend class you will not pass. He is all lecture. Make sure you take good notes and review your notes. He gives a lot of material. He likes to make jokes during class. Some of his jokes come off as rude.

Dr. Nagatoshi is a very good professor, his explanations are clear and his knowledge on the subject is expansive. He's also very funny, and jokes often during class. Overall, the class is very easy. Be sure to take lots of notes, don't miss any classes and pay close attention. If you do all that, you'll earn your well deserved A or B.

ATTEND CLASS AND TAKE GOOD NOTES!! he uses no technology, so dont expect clear/concise powerpoints or blackboard. he writes everything on the whiteboard. he will pick on you during class so pay attention. he makes jokes but is still very monotone and the class is REALLY boring, i nearly go crazy every time. at least he answers questions

He is the WORST teacher at Harper so far! He makes you feel stupid when you ask a question. Thus being very un approachable. He really puts you on the spot too in front of the class. You have been warned!

His Class was extremely hard. He was a nice guy but his teaching methods were terrible. From 2pm to 4:40pm was our class time and all we did was takes notes after he wrote them out in marker on the board. He has all of his notes in a notebook and never uses the computer. No technology in this class whatsoever and he is very monotone.

I'll keep it simple. Don't miss class. Take notes (MUST). Don't be a smart-aleck. Do what he tell's you to do. If you fallow those you are bound to get an easy c or b range. Study when u get the material that night and every day you WILL have your well deserved B to A

He is the worst professor I have had at Harper by far. I have an accommodation plan, and he gave me hell for it. He made it seem like I was a huge inconvenience for him. He knows his stuff, but he is not a nice person at all. Don't take him.

I took nearly every course he taught (and wish I'd had him for the Cultural). He's very interesting & one of the best I've had & I have a Masters degree. He's one of the toughest also. If you have a chance, take his classes! I took a class in Fall of 2001 & we discussed Afghanistan & the implications & how nthropology applied to the situation.

By far the most knowledgeable person I've come across. Very difficult teacher but it's worth it. Be prepared to raise your hand only when you're positive with the right answer or he'll give you crap. Don't talk, don't fall asleep, don't miss class.

He was in some of the few programs that actually challenged the best. And he has become on of the best. His lectures and personality are as contagious as his passion and personal knowledge of the material he lectures...

He is the best. Extremely intelligent, definitely knows his stuff. The classes are very hard, but the nature of the material makes it that way. Must take notes, and must attend class-EVERYTHING he says is on the tests. He expects a lot out of his students. Take it before he stops teaching!

I took all of Dr. Nagatoshi's classes. He is THE BEST professor at Harper by far from my experiences. However, one of his classes is the only class I've ever gotten a B in (Physical Anthropology), therefore, do not underestimate his courses!! I now attend Loyola University and still Nagathoshi is my favorite professor of all time. Take him:)

One of the very best Harper has to offer. Erudite, well-spoken, very funny. The 4 tests are hard and cover all the extensive notes from class. Attendance reccommended. One optional field trip, however you'd miss the fun experience if not going. Must really study to succeed. Exams are clear but cover almost everything he teaches. Fair grading.

One of the most interesting persons i've ever met. VERY interesting class! However DO NOT underestimate the class as it is very hard and a lot to learn. However Dr Nagatoshi likes his students and is very easy to talk to and he truly wants you to do well in his class. 4 test are your only grade so you MUST study. Would recomend Dr Nagatoshi any day

This class was VERY overwhelming in the material it covered. The tests were difficult and were the only source of points for grades. There were a couple of field trips, and he makes the class fun and comfortable to be in. DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THIS CLASS if you show effort and attend his lectures grades are fair LOVED IT!!! C grade lots of notes!!!

I had Dr. N for both Intro and Cultural Anth. His tests are hard but very straightforward. He's a lot of fun, especially in the small summer class. He really loves anthropology and loves sharing it with his students.
