I love her. Absolutely love her. She has the most interesting life--make sure to ask her about how she backpacked through Europe and made money by selling her artwork on the beach! She not only inspired me to create better artwork, but helped me be a better person. I am not too fond of ceramics, but I took her 3x just because I liked her so much.

She is a demanding professor with an eye for detail. Her attendance policy is strict, two absences will cost you a letter grade (she'll knock you for tardiness too).. being a commuter who lives 35+ min away from campus is tough since weather related delays are unavoidable. I enjoyed the challenge of her class and look forward to Ceramics II.

Ceramics Class- You think it's going to be a simple basket weaving class- think again. You're going to learn the chemistry and history behind the art of ceramics and you'll never look at "airport art" the same way again. Thank you Lorraine for being tough and kind.

i LOVE her!! she is an amazing teacher, but wayyy hard. some days I spent 9 hours or more in that studio and it's a beginner's level class. I also took 3 years of ceramics in High school. so if you're not dedicated don't take this cause it'll ruin your GPA. don't buy the textbook unless you just want to keep it for fun cause i never opened it

Very talented artist, but I would not take for Gen. Ed. unless you are fairly talented and serious about art yourself.

Excellent teacher. Strikes the perfect balance between being challenging and helpful. She is clear about what she wants while giving you creative freedom, and really appreciates all the time you put in. Will point out the strong and weak parts of your work, whether you are an artistic genius or not. Just come to every class.

Amazing woman, so knowledgable about subject. Is honest, and makes everyone feel comfortable in class. you dont have to be talented, just try and she will see your effort. make sure your work looks finished and everything is intentional, and she will know if its not. youll do fine, just appreciate and work in the time alotted for class + some.

Best professor in the art department when I was there. You earn every "A" you get. Very knowledgeable. If you want your degree to be worth something, take her classes.

Awesome professor. The class isn't as hard as some people say but you have to put a lot of time and effort into your work. Professor Nickel is extremely helpful and has endless knowledge about ceramics. Great academically, and super nice!

Loved the class - but take it pass/fail if you can't take a 'B', or more likely a 'C'. Ten to fifteen percent A's, and with only ten to fifteen people, that could be 1-2.She says there are times when she wont give any A's if the quality doesnt demand it
