Aweful teacher. First class that I don't have an A in. I have a C- and read the entire chapters and take notes. Tests are on the smallest things and sometimes can't be found in the text book and you're given very short time to take them. I devoted several hours every week to read everything I thought she might throw on the test. wish I could drop

Although online class, she isn't very clear on the assignments. The weekly chapters assignments are long, and are only dependent on the book. She does not provide any study guide or worksheets.

Dr. Dowling is a very nice professor. She always answered my emails and questions when I had them. Her class is not easy, but it's not hard either. I skimmed the chapters and did the online practice tests and I did pretty well. Her time limits on tests are short so just be prepared to work quickly.

She is superb in her field, and I totally admire her for her proficiency in her subject. Professor - U have a very sharp knowledge in history. but dont let Ur sharpness killing students. u still need to know the effective teaching way, not killing. Student- b prepare to study as if u are taking only HI for an entire semester. ready to be killed

I really wish I had come on here before deciding to take her class. I was really excited to take this class and she has ruined it entirely for me. Ridiculous timed tests that require you to remember every little detail and too much work for a beginning course. If you want to take this class do yourself a favor and at all costs AVOID THIS TEACHER!!

Extremely difficult teacher! I did well in this class, but the amount of work and effort I put into it,for a course such as this, was insane. Her quizzes sometimes covered material that was not covered until chapters assigned weeks later, if one can believe that. What she expects out of her students, she does not return with much helpfulness.

By far the WORST professor I've ever had and I've never even MET her. Unreasonably high workload for a BLOW OFF course. I used this course to boost my GPA and thanks to her it went down. BEWARE DO NOT TAKE A SINGLE CLASS WITH THIS INSTRUCTOR!!!!

Mrs. Dowling isn't a bad teacher, the workload is a little high for an online history class but not unreasonable. you pretty much read a chapter a week and take a quiz every other week. each chapter takes about 4-7 hours to read and take notes. she provides some video links sometimes. She is better then the other reviews suggest.

I had an awful experience with Mrs.Dowling. I took an online course with her (World Civilizations). The work load was ridiculous. The test questions were all extremely confusing. Prior to taking this class I had a 4.0. I received a C in this class. I worked very hard and emailed her daily as well.

Absolute joke of a class. I myself, also, have a 4.0 G.P.A., and the course load for this 100 level course was ridiculous. When I was doing more homework here than my Algebra/Trig class, there was a problem there. Constantly fluctuating test grading was extremely aggravating. Dropped just before deadline, first time ever, as did almost whole class.

This class was extremely hard for me (I have a 4.0 btw, I work hard for my grades!!). I can appreciate her knowledge of the material, but I think she should be teaching an upper level history class to history majors. She knows her stuff, thats for sure. But be prepared to devote hours a day (not even joking) on reading, movies, notes and studying.

Just not a good teacher. Tests on every minutae of detail instead of important facts. Be sure to read every word of the text! Final consists of 60 questions in 70 minutes along with a timed essay for which you must cite sources. Her class was far mor challening than need be.

most unfair teacher i have ever had!!! midterm paper was not graded for 2 months!! test were extremely hard the class average was less than a 50, came 10 min late for a timed final and did'nt give extra time, just really unfair and says she does'nt have the time to do extra credit, needs to retire asap!!!

Pass. Her tests are impossible. Assigns tons of reading and ask about obscure details rather than important points. Turned in a project worth 1/3 of the grade and didn't get it back until long after the withdraw date. Blames the class for low class averages rather than herself. Her methods are antiquated and how she still is teaching is beyond me.

Dr. Dowling is one heck of a teacher. She'll make you work for your grade; that's a given. She will not hand out grades for just being there, and her tests are tough and require critical interpritation of your reading. If you are looking for an easy class, or an easy grade this isn't it. If you are looking for a challenge, good luck, and READ READ!

This class is the first class I'm about to drop. I do not think the classes are informative, the text book does not explain what is on the tests. I received one grade so far, a 79 on a quiz, and she gave me a "Poor" on my midterm grade. I'm very upset since I have all A's in my other classes. STAY AWAY!!
