Professor Marso cannot teach. She relies solely on class discussions which almost always end in students saying nonsense just to get participation points. She is not clear in what she looks for in papers and gives zero helpful feedback. She cancels class often and is rarely available for office hours. Worst class I have taken at Union. 0/10.

Comment:

Lori has very high expectations and so her course will be difficult. But she is one of my favorite professors at Union. She makes you think, plays devil's advocate a lot, and leaves the floor open to generous discussion. She assigns a lot of reading and writing, but you will know the material down pat by the end. Highly recommend!

I have taken a class with Professor Marso almost every trimester at Union! She is literally the best professor here!!! I look forward to classes every week (and I am extremely conservative). You will think and grow so much, but be prepared to work super hard (which you should do anyway!) cannot recommend highly enough, she will change your life!!

Comment:

A very nice lady and very interested in the material she teaches. PSC 113 had a lot of very boring and dense readings that were hard for me to follow. If we were not reading Du Bois, I just could not become interested in Rousseau at all and that hurt my grade. I would recommend Marso as a professor, but only this class if you are a poli sci major.

Just an awful experience. The material could be interesting if she didn't just hold an open floor of discussion that results in the rambling of students trying to earn participation grades who can't present any valuable thoughts. She doesn't teach she just stands there smiling to students ramble. I would stay away from this Professor w/ TEN FT pole

She is a great professor that really makes you think and get involved. Her African American Political thought class is great. She is really passionate about the material and her energy is contagious. If you are a poli sci major you should take a class with her before you graduate!

Prof. Marso definitely knows what she's talking about. Discussions are lively and focus much more on what the collective has to say, which challenges the traditional lecture method of teaching. She expects a lot from her students, but not unreasonably so. She's willing to help you understand the course material.

had for poli-thought classes, great discussion but if you disagree with her then you are wrong. pushes her own ideas onto her students. grades by weight of paper - heavier=better grade. said its unfair for the best student to get same grade as 2nd best, so you cant get an A.
