Comment:

I thought that Laliberte was an uninteresting, and uninspiring professor. She is clear in terms of giving directions and explaining concepts, but shoots down questions and has a boring traditional class room set up that is not conducive to conversation, just book activities. However, if you are looking for an easy A, this is your class.

This was the easiest but also the most helpful french class I have ever taken. She speaks ALL in french, so you have to be pretty good at comprehension. if you are, understanding her is a piece of cake. she was very responsive to questions, but sometimes a little stubborn. Though it was a grammar class, she really tried to make it fun.

Mme Laliberte was wonderful! I was worried about the class because my first French class in two years, but after I got into the swing of things I enjoyed it so much. Mme Laliberte's teaching method was different from what I had in high school, in a good way. It helped me improve my understanding and pronunciation of the language so much!

She wasn't a terribly hard teacher, but she could be rude and make you feel really dumb. The class was really monotonous and boring and made me not want to take french anymore.

Pretty easy class. Very nice instructor and definitly knows the language and francophone culture very well. Her teaching style is very different from high school teaching styles and so that can be very off putting at first. However, I feel my language skills improved a lot and the workload was very fair.

Comment:

Prepare to learn and stretch your brain a ton with Laliberte. People that don't deeply desire to learn French and work will not get along with her. She has very reasonable expectations of students related to the level of the course, which some mistake for ****iness. Her accent is gorgeous, and she is so knowledgeable. I highly recommend!

This was a good introductory class. She emphasizes speaking, which is helpful. She's not the warmest, but I think it's cultural, and she teaches the material well anyways. Pretty easy overall & I recommend it.

After going to her office hours numerous times, and investing tons of time on homework and studying still did not receive a good grade. She was not helpful and dismissed inquiries when expressed my misunderstanding. Only take the class if you can memorize a ton of material. Course grading was not based on understanding of concepts, but memorization

participate, participate, participate! she's kind of intimidating at first since she conducts the entire class in french, but my french has improved so much because of it! she's all about the participation so its hard to do well if you dont participate or if you dont go to class. she does expect alot but youll learn alot too.

She has made me hate french. I have no desire to ever take another french class. She was rude in my class and humiliated certain students. She was inflexible and very unhelpful when I went for extra help. All in all I would not recommend her class.

great class!!! definitely recommend the translation workshop. laliberte is very clear and very concise, also willing to be flexible with schedules when the class needs more time on things. Very, very, detail oriented, which is great if you're willing to take the time to get it all right.

Second class with Michele, a bit better at the not so hurried summer pace, but seems to not realize that we're not completely fluent in French.
