Instead of looking at both sides he tends to mock the beliefs he disagrees with. It surprised me since I've only heard good things about his teaching. Really strong man of the faith though.

Great Professor and man! Really loves God, His Word and us, the students! The Bible becomes real and applicable through taking to heart and practice what he teaches, as he does. Take Bible Study Methods with him!!!!

I've had 3 classes with Ray at this point and even taught an ABSM Lab. I believe the "Awesome" level ratings are based on the fact that ray is an awesome guy, and deeply cares about students. That being said, Ray grades poorly, not harshly, but because of this begins to seem hard. He is subjective with grading, and often only defends his belief.

More than being an amazing professor, Ray is a great & humble servant of Christ. He is extremely intelligent & I learned so much in his classes, but even more, he helped me fall more in love with Jesus. He is extremely relational (he has you call him by his 1st name) & is always willing to meet outside of class. Take any class you can from him!

Took Ray for Text and Canon, intro to Philo,BSM, ABSM, and OTBT. Bible came alive. I have never learned such valuable lessons to Bible ever. Good communicator. So knowledgable. Humble. Kind. Excellent teacher. I just Thank God for him and his wife...so glad I signed up for a class.The man is a gem. God Bless him and his family!

Ray helped me see the big picture of the Bible by making me dig deeper into the the tiny details. His classes are like treasure maps and you find golden nuggets along the way toward the huge treasure which is being able understand what God wants us to know through the Bible.

I took Bible Study Methods, Intro to Philosophy, Text and Canon and a Com class. While he's a friendly guy, I felt like his classes lacking and usually felt like I understood his opinion rather than the actual content of the class at the end of each session. Each class had parts that were helpful, but overall, I found his classes confusing.

Can't remember the course number, but he taught Text & Canon in summer '07. Worst prof I've ever had at MBC. At least 20% of his material consists of blatant errors. His depth, breadth & currency are all very weak. Take any other prof but him.
