Best Prof I've had yet! Very energetic and engaging, tries hard to make class interesting. Was very willing to give extra help. Didn't assign a lot of homework, but it was always relevant. Also very helpful as undergrad advisor. Highly recommended!

Professor Sullivan is awesome. I really enjoyed his class because he is so passionate and engaging that even if you don't really like the material he makes it interesting and relevant to you. He's great to talk to, and a pretty funny guy. I enjoyed his class and recommend others in the German department as well!

Professor Sullivan is by far my favorite professor at UMass. He always gives incredibly engaging and interesting lectures; I have learned so much from him, and he has really guided my college career. Take any class with him if the opportunity arises.

The other reviews speak the truth. Robert is simply an amazing professor. Dynamic and impassioned his classes are more like performances than lectures. He breathes life into some very dry texts. His enthusiasm is infectious. But his best quality is that you can genuinely tell that he loves his job and his students. He'll do anything to help you.

(I'm a grad student) Prof. Sullivan is the best prof I've had here. He is brilliant, kind, generous, extremely patient, and devoid of the arrogance and dogmatism that marks UMass. There's no need to say anything else. Take classes w/him! You will rejoice in the experience.

He is the best teacher ever. Cares about students, incited interest in the subject. He can make boring things sound interesting. Very fair grader, relatively easy if you come to class and read assigned readings (not that much). No actual studying required. I absolutely recommend him! He is the best!
