Scott is one of the toughest professors I've ever had, but there is no doubt I have grown from taking classes with him. He pushes you to care about your writing and always offers excellent, in-depth feedback. He is also extremely caring, as long as he sees that you care. Always willing to make time for discussion, Scott is easily recommended!

Dr. Koterbay is a very strange man in the best of ways. Tough grader, so be thorough when writing your papers, and surprisingly he enjoys it when you are witty and sarcastic openly in class. He likes it when you challenge his argument, so pay attention and participate actively. Kind and understanding as long as you aren't being stupid and flaky.

I took his History of Graphic Design class and it wasn't too bad. I came out with a B but his Contemporary Art Class is extremely challenging. The study guides have over 200 slides on them but you will only end up writing about 20 of the slides. I have no clue why they are so long. It is impossible to memorize all that information.

The class is very fun and easy. He requires little daily readings for class responses. Lots of discussions about touchy topics. Really helps one to develop thought process and debate skills. I actually looked forward to this class everyday.

Pointless class, didn't learn a thing. Conversations somewhat interesting at times. Paper assignments ridiculous and impossible to do well on unless you are a favorite which you can be by talking in class daily. I wonder what this class would be like with better professor, but wouldn't take it again to see. Try someone else unless they're worse.

He was amazing for Intro to Ethics, The discussions kept me from losing my mind through out the semester. I requires you to think, but he is one of my favorite proffs I've had.

LOVE THE MAN! The first 2 classes of his I took I seriously considered leaving the school over it (because i have to take him every semester) but now, 6 classes in, he is brilliant! the attitude is just a cover up to look like an artistic badass. class was easy. he LOVES for you to question everything. he knows his stuff! great teacher.

First someone needs to tell him that irregardless is not a word! His discussions are useless, and the entire class was used to talk about things that will never be used in life. he expects a lot of reading, but never tests on it.

A great teacher, if you're willing to work hard, read the material, and act like a serious student. If you want to slack off and be spoon-fed information, don't bother showing up.

I thought he was a good teacher, he introduced alot of new ideas but was very respectful of peoples opinions. He wants you to be involved so if you talk it helps your grade no attendance mandatory but he will help you if he thinks you are making some attempt.

Arrogant, pretentious, a superiority hoax, tries to cover with big words. lousy teacher. Half the class dropped out in 4 weeks! Stick to art history PLEASE!!

This teacher is a pseudo intellectual who prides himself on obfuscation. He enjoys molding simple ideas into complex ones, never missing an opportunity to thrill you with his superior vocabulary.

I found Scott's lectures very interesting. He does tend to talk over your head sometimes but you just have to say something and he'll explain. Attendance is not required but if you don't come... don't expect a good grade. You can't keep up w/ the material otherwise. Very interested in students comprehension of material and extremely helpful!!

Wish I could say something nice abt. this man, but I can't. He was chauvanistic, pompous, and actually said that it was too bad that we had to go to ETSU! He then reminded several of us that St. Andrews (where he went) was the ONLY school worth anything. He may know Phil. of Art, but he doesn't know manners and common decency.

This was a difficult class for me; I don't do well with classes that aren't based on concrete facts like science classes. Koterbay made this a painless experience for me and actually taught me a few things. He is always willing to help his students.

your experience with koterbay will reflect your own dedication. if you're insecure, don't take his classes. if you get hung up on inconsequential things (faculty member's wardrobe, for example), save yourself the agony. look past the surface, dig your heels in, and learn something from someone who WILL challenge you, if you have what it takes.
