Comment:
Dr. Lang is a brilliant instructor with a huge wealth of knowledge in the field. All the assignments were pretty long (few were hard), so don't wait until the last minute. Ask questions, he's very helpful. He gives many extra credit opportunities in assignments, don't waste them! Everything I learned was immediately applicable in the real world.

About 25% of this course ended up being math problems - surprise! Sometimes took weeks to return grades. Professor is knowledgeable on topics. Lectures are poorly recorded readings of powerpoint slides. Final group Project:20% of grade; Final Exam: 20% of grade (can't tell if you even pass until final grades come out).

I've had Dr. Lang for multiple courses. The course material is always difficult but Dr. Lang would answer my questions and guide me through when I needed it. He was (surprisingly) available 247, or at least it seemed since he would respond to my emails at all hours. He is very knowledgeable in the subject matter. I recommend him to anyone!

The professor, while monotone in his lectures, does a great job covering the material. He also responds quickly to emails and tries his hardest to direct you to the right solution(without giving it to you). The assignments take days and the tests are monsters. I lost a letter grade on the two tests, and I studied. Demandingrewarding course.

Professor was very boring and decided to dedicate time to teaching new things the week before exams that would not be covered in that exam. Although lectures were bad, the notes were generally helpful enough to get through the homework given hours of research, and he is very helpful outside of class during office hours. Exam reviews aren't helpful!

Comment:
He tended to repeat and re-explain things to make sure everyone understood. That's understandable because it's a hard topic, but it got a bit boring at times. He was good about curving grades when the class did poorly. He often tried to relate the theoretical topics to practice, but that didn't always work. He was very helpful in office hours.

Dr. Lang is a good teacher. Unfortunately, computer organization is not his area of expertise. He tried real hard to teach the material to us students, but had difficulties at times. He is a really nice guy and is willing to help you understand the material if you visit him in his office. It was an easy A however.

He knows the material really well. His lectures are clear, but boring. 5% of your final grade is based on attendance. Tests are similar to HW, but just a bit harder. I hate to admit it, but I made minimal effort and earned a B.

This guy never taught the class before. Was going off someone else's notes (the books). Would just stand and read off the slides each class period but would make attendance 5% of grade. Low grades on midterm so he gave Extra credit. Final was like midterm but students were more prepared. One group assignment for 25$ of grade. Avoid him.

Great professor. It can sometimes take a little while for Dr. Lang to get concepts across but he covers every topic from multiple angles to ensure that all students understand. He is one of the most helpful teachers I have had and structures his class in a way that makes online learning feel very natural.

Dr. Lang is a fair and extremely helpful teacher. He typically answers e-mail within 24- 48 hours. I really enjoyed his class and look forward to taking another class with him. He is knowledgable about digital forensics, and I really learned a lot from him.

I had Dr. Lang for CGS 5131 and 5132. He is an amazing professor. The commenter who said his teaching was bad enough to leave the program was clearly not cut out for the Digital Forensics field. Dr. Lang is clear and while not concise, covers the material enough that you WILL understand it. Dr. Lang is one of the best profs in the DF program.

Any undergrad student dreads taking Big Discrete, but I really thought Professor Lang did a great job in teaching it and removing the fear associated with this class. He is without a doubt the most down to earth of the Big Discrete teachers at UCF.

Dr. Lang is by far the best professor I've had in my grad program. Very helpful and responds to e-mails promptly. Exams are straight forward, but you do need to study for them. Assignments will take you several long days to complete, so start early. Lectures are relevant, just wish there was a 10 min. break. Lang truly cares about his students.

Took attendance every day for 5% of your grade. Posts all slides online and just reads from them. Don't buy the book, its not needed. Gives tons of extra points since the TA graded pretty harshly on homeworks. I got B's on both exams and a B on the final and still got an A. Tests all T/F & MC.

Good instructor, knows his topics well, give life examples while in class. But, all he does is go over his slides. Take the class on-line as it is just recorded from the in-class section. The book can be useful once or twice but he copies the pages you need and posts them on-line. Tests are hard so study the material. Gives bonus in homework.

Horrible class, bad teacher. I would not recommend this instructor or class to anyone. Others claim that after the first two classes in the forensics program it gets better. After spending $2,000 on the first two and being severely disappointed I am not continuing in this program to find out.

Great topic, interesting class, but lectures are so slow. The class is really long but it could be faster, if he just didn't take 20mins on each slide! Very nice guy, just pick up the pace!
