Mass Media online during 4-week summer class. Lots of quizzes straight from the book. A few discussion boards for participation. One research paper due at end of semester. Pretty easy class if you keep up, she lays everything out for you and checks in on you each week, offering help if needed. Great professor & comm elective

I took Gathering Information online during the 4-week summer session so it was very fast paced. An annotated bibliography is due at the end of the semester and requires A LOT of research, start on it early. She organizes the class very clear but get started on the papers early. She's very understanding and willing to help.

Taleen was hands down my favorite professor at the university! Media production takes a lot of work, but it is well worth it in the end. Employers have contacted me after reading articles I wrote for the newspaper, and I have Taleen to thank for helping me through it all! She expects a lot from you, but encourages you along the way.

TOUGH. Be prepared to be held completely accountable for your grade. In this class, it's all about how much you're willing to do as a student. This is by far the most demanding class I've ever taken. But, WORTH IT. Taleen is open to help, but expects you do to the majority of the work. Her approach is very helpful and prepares students for careers.

Professor Washington is a breath of fresh air. She helps guide you between that uneasy transition from student to professional. The opportunity to grow and learn in her class is unparalleled by other courses at UHCL. I really love Prof. Washington. The class is not easy, but you will learn a lot. The newspaper has switched to mostly digital; so, you won't have to stay super late on production nights. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the students in our class truly missed this class when it was over.

Great professor!You have to work for your grade she won't give it to you..Ask you if don't understand she'll help you, the whole staff is great for that as well.Very time consuming class, but putting in the time and effort will defenitely pay off.I learned so much beneficial info. from this class that I can actually and will use in the real world.

Lovely professor. She truly cares for your growth as a student but also as a person. The workload can be intimidating at first but she, as well as all the editors, are there to assist you with anything! I highly recommend taking her.

at the beginning I thought the class was going to be very hard, and was intimidated by the work load. but the Taleen and her staff of editors are there to help and see you succeed. i thoroughly enjoyed the class and sad to see it come to an end. i would definitely recommend to others,oh and be sure to make notes and study for the biweekly quizzes.

at first class seemed overwhelming but she as well as the other editors are there to help. she is passionate about the paper and her students and is always there to help. communication is key and deadlines are strict. but overall i throughly enjoyed the class, and would highly recommend to anyone to take. Sad to see the semester come to an end.

Prof. Washington clearly organizes her notes and responds to e-mails within a timely manner and is very nice. I took her on-line Gathering Info. Class and though there was a great deal of work (2 projects), you do learn how to research in a professional manner. Great class if you are willing to put in the effort! Also, stay organized!
