lots of papers, a very skewed grading system, and very critical on the papers that make up around 30% of your final grade.

Comment:
Do not take HIS355 with her. I'm not sure about her other classes, but this class was an absolute mess. She had us read several articles about migration early in the semester and had the students 'discuss' them. There was no lecture, ever. I learned nothing. She had us research a topic with NO rubric, yet she was extremely critical over our work.

Comment:
Prof. Gordon has a very inefficient teaching method. She requires a ton of reading and then in class lectures, she doesn't even talk about the topic. She gets off track by talking about feminist concepts and not American history. Not to mention her slide shows for her lectures don't even have information on it, just pictures...

I do not like the way Wendy teaches, she is very difficult. You have to take notes from her mouth, not from the powerpoint, because there are basically only pictures on them. Very tough grader, can rarely be good enough. This class was very difficult, especially for a freshman.

Professor is nice when you talk, but does not help identify problem in the essay's. She critiques pretty badly but without informing what needs to improved. Wish she was more helpful and descriptive to individual students seeking help. Not a strong recommendation with this professor, however course if good but go for another choice if possible.

Professor is hard working clear speaker and following curriculum very strictly but is very unsupportive of individuals with no prior history knowledge. Very tough grader especially when you satisfactorily do the assignments Does not appreciate hard work or efforts and believes in the correctness of essays, logics and other class activities.

Currently a student in this class, great professor but the amount of work she assigns is ridiculous considering the class is a 100 level course. Also, TOUGH grader which doesn't make it better.

Lots of reading, assigned additional articles to read on top of the textbook. In order to keep up with the class, expect to read around 50-70 pages a week. The class is a seminar and you will be expected to participate in mandatory discussion of texts you read prior to class daily. Research assignments were tedious, but few tests. Tough grader.

So I am currently taking this class and I am taking this as a Gen Ed. Personally I think that for a Gen Ed course she is to difficult. Her lectures are long and repetitive. The essays are difficult because the questions are broad and majority of the time her lectures do not even touch on the topics she wants us to write our essays on.

I've only taken a summer class with Dr. Gordon, but she was great. Very helpful, kept class interesting and very, very understanding. Wants to hear your opinions, and being able to articulate your thoughts clearly are important to her.

There is alot of work in this class but the teacher is an easy grader and gives you the opportunity to raise your grade throughout the semester. The class is very boring, but then again so is history. Overall good class! The teacher tries to make the material interesting and has a great personality, and is HOT too!

I have had a few classes w/ Dr. Gordon & highly enjoyed them & would reccomend her. She'll have you write multiple 1 page papers.. Don't complain, 1 page is nothing. Her final paper requirements are not bad either only 8-10 pages (sometimes less). She is very friendly & can help with any questions you may have about the department.

discussions and doing history group assignments get old fast. quite a bit of reading and 3 essays. quizzes are all onling and you usually get multiple attempts showing you what you got wrong so they are easy grades..mostly multiple choice. essays are easy as long as you support your thesis and stay on topic.

TONS of work for a 100 level class. there are 4 papers, graded group work once a week, 4 geo quizzes, 2 lecture quizzes, 2 pre essay assignments, a test, and a final. she is also a very tough grader. i absolutely hated the class

Think history is boring? Not THIS class. You'll learn the subject in a new way. For an intro course, taught like an upper level with a lot of writing assignments AND reading. You can ACE the course without buying the LEP which is only used for reference. Pick an EASY topic for your essays, GO TO CLASS, take good notes and you won't have a problem.
