Here's how I see it, if a class isn't cross-listed as women's studies and the course description doesn't mention women's issue at all, the class shouldn't devolve to one long feminist dialogue. We read a lot of good books, but almost all of our discussions boiled down to the exploitation of women. So, take that as you will.

Easily the worst teacher I have had at any level of education from pre-school to college. Her English class has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with english. All she does is make you annotate envioronmental readings and talk about the enviornment for an hour+ of your time everyday. She is VERY rude and has no concept of reality...

I had Dr. Hale for the Narrative Imagination, and I loved her. The readings from the novels are semi-lengthy, but interesting. If you contribute in discussion, you will be fine. You will write several papers, including a journal and research paper, but they are not bad. Hale makes the class enjoyable and has a great sense of humor. Take this class!

Can you say Environment? If you are not obssessed with the environment don't take this class. There needs to be a statement underneath this class when registering saying that it only involves enviro. Class is deathly boring, read the stuff and take her feedback and you will be fine.

She is awful. She uses the class as her own medium to express her political views instead of focusing on writing. She is mean to students who do not share her views and nice to those who do. It is like grade school, she tries to teach politics - something she is definitely not qualified for.

Does not teach English at all. Makes you read tons of stupid propaganda about saving the environment and doesn't talk about writing at all. The writing book required for the class is not taught at all by the teacher, and is rarely even referred to. Hale's teachings make me want to kill myself.

Dr. Hale is not as bad as everyone here said. I found her writing class to be very helpful because you get a lot of feedback on essays. She is willing to help you if you ask. Those comments probably reflect a dislike of English on the part of the 110 people...they complain a lot anyway.

quite simply the worst educational experience of my life.i learned absolutely nothing,& consider the countless hours of annotating ecology essays as an enormous insult to the importance of my time.given the choice between this class and smashing your head against a brick wall,just kill yourself.
