Dr. Snively knows her stuff, and is good at keeping things interesting. Her Latin class looked at particularly weird passages to keep us engaged, and she explained stuff on the side quite well. She assigned a lot of papers, but wouldn't grade or hand them back for a long time, so it was hard to know how you're doing. Tests are standard Latin tests.

She was not a very helpful teacher. If you got confused in class she got very upset that you didn't understand and would proceed to not go over it. She even sent the entire class (of 8) a very passive aggressive email telling us all our papers sucked and we needed to do better.

Prof. Snively is a character. Takes some getting used to, but overall a fairly good professor. As long as you keep involved during class, do your work, and go to her for help, you'll be fine.

Very dry sense of humor, but funny if you can appreciate it. Clearly knows her stuff. Answers e-mails promptly, always very willing to explain/clarify things via e-mail. Also very generous with extensions on papers. Quite good prof overall, especially if you are actually interested in Roman History.

Very understanding teacher. She will accept late work, provided you have a good reason. Lectures are pretty much looking at pictures and her explaining it, which is probably the biggest downside of the class. Other then that it's an easy class.

The only criticism I have for this prof is that she assigns papers at lengths better suited to a 300 or 400 level class. Other than that, if you show up to class and actually work, you should do fine.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! she is by far the worst professor I have ever had. extremely boaring and monotone. does not involve the students at all. also assigns a ton of work and fails to return tests and papers to the students. the class could have been very interesting but it was completely ruined by the professor.

Professor Snively is very knowledgeable and definitely knows her stuff. The information is very interesting, however sometimes she is very vague and unclear when assigning things.

Snively was my advisor. She was absolutely awesome. It was nice to deal w/ her in a department that had only Cahoon and Zabrowski when i was there. Snively may seem like she blows people off in class, but if you are one of the few that she sees actually working you can definitely excel with her.

Professor Snively is very smart and knows her stuff, but she can't teach. She often blows you off if you don't understand something and she moves very fast and refuses to slow down even though the entire class doesn't know what is going on. I recommend avoiding this Professor if possible.

If you have any interest or knowledge in the Roman World prior to taking the class, take it. 3 incredibly easy tests and one term paper. Attendance is optional, and it would seem the readings are as well, as most of the time, one can ace a test without doing them. Beware however, class is BORING.

While she is very knowledgeable herself, she often just laughs when one makes mistakes and doesnt seem to make any major effort to explain or help the student understand. Her random quizzes are also pretty difficult and she moves through material too fast for one to comprehend it fully.

Dr. Snively is a very nice person but her lectures (especially the ones including slideshows in Roman Civ) will almost certainly put you to sleep.
