Overall, it's obvious that she cares about her students doing well. With that being said, she's an extremely difficult grader and asks for entirely too much when it comes to the two required essays (it's nearly impossible to get a 100 and she always gives EXTENSIVE notes). Everything else is not too bad, though she also grades blog posts harshly.

FOLLOW HER DIRECTIONS, and you will get an A. I was so baffled at the number of people in class who just turned in HW without following her specific instructions. If you don't adhere to the prompts and consider the specifics she asks you to look at, you won't do well. Fair enough, in my opinion…I loved this class and loved this professor!

Horrible. I've been filming my whole life and this class/professor single handedly made me want to change my major and abandon film forever.

Film and Video Forms was a very tough, but very rewarding class. If you can manage the high workload, it will forever change the way you watch movies and make you a better film reader.

My favorite teacher. She is a hard grader, but you take away a lot more than you bargain for. She is very personable when you want to be. She is very well educated and give great movie reviews.

One of the hardest graders you will ever come across, but also one of the best professors. She makes class interesting even if it's a film you expect to hate. Just be prepared to put in a lot of effort. She is also very helpful both in and outside of class and quick to respond to questions via email.

She is extremely knowledgable and a very fun person, but it is sometimes hard to know what she's looking for and is a hard grader. Make sure you read the assignments and watch the movies... she loves pop quizes.

I took several cultural studies courses with Dr Fuchs. She is an amazing professor. Listening to music, watching films and shows, etc. ... Dr Fuchs gave me license to critique. Highly recommend visiting her during office hours for conversation -- she's fun to chat with and a great sounding board.

A quite polarizing professor, but she has great taste in film, allows the class to discuss the selected movies openly and honestly. But she is kind of a tough grader on papers. Watch the movies, you will be quizzed on them!

She is one of the most offensive professors I have ever had. She basically told me I don't know how to write papers. It is funny, considering she uses poor grammar and she is never very clear on what she wants. A monkey can teach this class better than she can. Honestly, Mason should fire her and find someone better. Take another class, SERIOUSLY.

she never gives you paper topics. you make them. that is the hardest part of the class because if you don't make a good topic she will rip apart your paper with that red pen. VERY hard grader. interesting films but the themes and discussions were redundant. Not sure why this is a full class and not just a section within another one.

I love films, and if you do to, take another class so you do not end up hating them. She picks pointless movies that suck. In previous film classes, I watched classics, not movies no one has ever seen or heard of. She grades like she's better than us all. Thinks shes the worlds greatest film critic. Its impossible to get a good grade on a paper.

It was a popular music in culture class, and was basically all about rap music. She's a very smart woman, but I always got the sense that she looked down on you if you didn't agree with her, or didn't like hip hop. Also, I think she hates America and white people, which is ironic because she's white herself.

GREAT PROFESSOR!!!! One of my FAVES at Mason!!! She is tough, but she gives alot of feed back on your papers and if you have questions she is ALWAYS very helpful and encouraging. I hope I can find another class of hers to take. (oh and this is for the INTRO TO DOC FILM class--it started off as an ENGL class but is under a different label now)

If you aren't into film then it's the worst class you can take. Pro. Fuchs od very smart and knows what she ios teaching, but very, very difficult class. Lots of work! Thank God my other classes were easy or I would have really been in trouble!!!

She is nice at first when the class seemed interesting, but then it gets repetitive. The movies could be better and she needs to be much more specific. There is a daily quiz on textbook terms and the opening scene of every movie. She's a tough grader and it would help if she was more clear on papers. Also, not everyone is a film expert.
