I had Burch last semester and she was one of my two favorite journalism professors so far (kemper being the other). She encourages her students to think outside the box when writing stories, and she is always entertaining. If you can, take her class! You won't regret it.

Great professor! Always willing to help you in the class with your stories and has a lot of one on one time. There are a lot of stories but it's helpful to developing your writing style. She's always one of the nicest professors I've ever had. Definitely take her for 206 if you can.

I was unsure about this class at the beginning of the semester, but I have found this to be one of the best and most useful journalism classes I've taken. Cathy does a lot of one-on-one time with students and really knows her stuff. It's a lot of writing but totally worth it.

Wow. I heard that Prof Burch was tough so I came expecting the worst. She is tough, but fair. Her one-on-one style is incredibly effective. Overall, this was one of the best classes I've taken.

Great instructor. Intimidating at first but also very helpful. 1-on-1's help a lot to improve your writing. She focuses more on content of the stories rather than grammar and technicalities, it's up to you to know the AP style book. Good real-world journalism experience. Easy A if you take the time to do the work and do it well.

Prof Burch's class has easily been one of the best journalism courses I have taken so far! Yes, she can be intimidating; but she always takes time to discuss story ideas/and methods of going about them with her students. There are lots of 1 to 1 sit downs in Cathalena's class. What more can one person ask for?

One of the hardest classes in Journalism I've taken so far. She does try to scare a few students off at the first class. The level of difficulty depends on what beat she gives you to cover.

This is a very difficult class. You will write about 15 stories in the semester which averages out to be about one a week. She tries to scare everyone at the beginning of the class. It's A LOT of work, but if you want to be a journalist, its worth it.
