Comment:

Professor Weiss is a good professor but grades harshly. Forgets that not everybody in her class is an English major. She hates contractions so watch out for that. Dont follow everything the TA writes for feedback. Ive received a bad grade because Ive followed her corrections. If youre looking for an A with reasonable effort, DO NOT TAKE HER.

Comment:

Prof. Weisser is a sweet lady. She's very passionate about what she does which makes the class enjoyable. The readings she chooses are interesting, but the workload is rough; she assigns a lot of reading at once, and her papers are on the longer side. She can also be a harsh grader. Read, try your best on papers, participate, and you'll do well.

There are 3 units of reading and 6 main assignments. Each unit requires a 2-3 page response paper and at the end a 5-7 page unit paper. There is only one test (replaces the 1st unit paper) and the final is the 3rd unit paper, so it is take home. Most of the class is spent going over the many readings and everyone goes around giving their opinion.

She is a very nice women and seems like she loves to teach. Her class was easy as long as you read the assignment and participate in class. She is not a tough grader and she will give you goo feedback. I would take her again.

Not a bad professor at all. She definitely loves teaching, which is refreshing. She is a bit of a tough grader, but not to the point where it's impossible to do well. Just be straight and to the point in your essays. She seems to prefer shorter papers to longer ones, which I get. I guess I'd take her again, she was nice enough and sometimes funny.

Although my tags may make her seem as if she is a bad professor, she really isn't. She does give a lot of readings for homework, but most people in my class didn't do them and she wouldn't know. She goes over every reading and tells which parts are important so if you include those in the response papers, you will get an A (check or check plus)

for lit 3 you only have two short 4 page essays, mid-term, and final. She was ok, our class didn't participate as much but she usually doesn't let someone ask questions. She treasures every minute in class and complains if we're behind schedule.

She is my favorite professor ever! She's so funny and has so much personality. She's really nice and approachable too! The class itself had 3 mini papers, 1 test, and 2 unit papers. Very discussion based. It's a long class but goes by quickly bc she's so much fun. Just make sure to do the readings beforehand so you can participate effectively.

Weisser is... not my favorite prof, by far. She has a bad habit of thinking that her students are... well, stupid. If you don't participate in her class, she'll continue dumbing down her lectures til you feel like you're back in high school. If you talk in her class, she'll love you. Pretty easy grader.

Overall a very friendly professor. She really knows her material and will challenge your ideas not to shut you down, but to make you support your ideas more. There's lots of mandatory readings, but papers are minimum and the class is pretty interesting overall.

Very straightforward- one midterm, one final, two papers (one mandatory, other optional). She'll bolster all of your grades if you participate. Exams are regurgitation of class discussion. She likes to talk a lot, but it's all useful information. I would take her again.

She's the type of philosophy teacher you don't want because she doesn't accept other opinions as valid unless they're exactly like hers. Her grading was inconsistent as well. Basically, avoid her if you want an environment conducive of open opinion and don't want to made to seem like a fool whenever you open your mouth.

Amazing teacher! May seem intimidating but if you put in the effort and show her keep up with the readings, and HAVE YOUR ANALYSIS PREPARED PRIOR TO CLASS, you will be fine. She is also really understanding so take advantage of her office hours.

Professor Weisser is one tough cookie. She's very strict and demands a lot from her students. She is very difficult to please. If you want an A don't take her...it's possible but VERY difficult. Short notice on papers...expects students to read entire novels in a week. Never taking her again...but all-in-all I have a lot of respect for her.
