Tons of reading really fast. "Great Books" more like mediocre books. Professor is really passionate about material which makes it interesting. Grades nicely as long as you try. Goes over concepts of books in class which help with exams.

Passable class. Prof is not clear nor easy to get answers from. He grades easy but is late to do everything. Took attendance only twice apparently. Get ready to spend over an hour reading one paragraph and discussing it. Opens dropboxes/creates assignments the night before something is due. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.

Loranger is very sporadic and not up to date. If you live and breathe to utilize syllabuses, he is not the prof for you. His lectures are sort of funny but he asks extremely obvious questions. He will go over the symbolism of one part of a poem for 40 minutes, literally. Very reading heavy, but at least the books are cheap.

I just love him. He's my favorite - the perfect amount of English nerdiness. He always sends out email updates and gives lots of time and great feedback on things we write both in class and out of class. He's never harsh with anything we write, he gives some criticism but says he doesn't want to say anything that will turn us away from writing.

I loved this class. If you are a science fiction fan, this is your class. course consisted of reading stories and watching movies. Prof. Loranger likes the class to discuss what we read and watched, and would involve us into a discussion. Read, watch, and critique like a critic, you have a easy A.

This was a class on science fiction story and film. If you like to read and watch sci-fi , this class is for you. Prof. Loranger is very passionate about the subject, and encourages feedback . Only class I had at WSU that has no lectures, watch movies, read stories, and pass. Last word,The more feedback and involvement you give, the higher the gr

I've had Loranger for ENG 204 and MUS 150-152 and while I thought he did an excellent job at both, his heart really seems to be into English. He's got a great attitude towards student involvement, and he tries to never shoot anyone down. You can tell he really enjoys the books and poems he has you read, and they're all fun to read too.

Class is interesting. Exams are online and hard. He doesn't really clarify what kind of answers he wants. Tried to email him a few times about my grades, got no response.

Had to read 5 books in 9 weeks! Each book over 200 pages. I'm not the fastest reader, maybe average, and with my full-time school and P/T work schedule, it was hard to read that much. And he wasn't always clear on how far we should read for the next class day. He's a nice guy, really enjoys reading & poetry, and will work with you on your grade.

Dr. Loranger is one of the best professors that I've had at WSU. He makes class fun. If you interact with him, it becomes even more fun. As long as you stay on track with the reading, you will have no problem getting a good grade in the class.

If you are an athlete, I HIGHLY recommend him. I was going to be gone for 2 straight classes on a soccer trip and he let me just take the 2 quizzes home. His class is somewhat interesting and VERY easy as long as you do the reading. He was great.

You need to go to class everyday, and read the book. The class was about the 1960s so it was interesting, but you have to read for the weekly quizzes an discussions. You have to write one long paper and give a presentation, but its due at the end of the quarter.

I actually had Dr. Loranger for a music class. The concepts were easy enough, but I felt like there was a lot of redundancy. Nice guy who lacks dynamics.

This class was not that bad. If you do the assignments, you should have no problem getting at least a B. Sometimes, Dennis can go off into tangents, which were a waste of time. But, overall he is a good professor. As far as the exams are concerned, you need to do the assigned reading to do well on them.
