Attending lecture is a must. It can be difficult to catch all lecture info, but he is very responsive to emails and makes himself available outside of class. Allows u to turn in assignments late, allows students to make up quizzes/exams, and provides extra credit points. Can be curt at times, but usually approachable. I recommend this teacher.

The only hard part of this class is the constant class cancellations. It becomes hard to keep up when so many classes are cancelled, but he tries to be understanding. He's good at lecturing and public speaking but it can be hard to catch everything he says because he doesn't have a power point or write anything on the board.

He is very eloquent, knowledgeable and organized. He makes a complex subject such as evidence easy to digest. He is thorough in lectures and a pleasant professor to listen to and learn from. Great pleasure to be in his classes!

Talks too much about personal life, lectures get repetitive and does not go by the book. His test questions will actually contradict the book and he will even say the book is wrong. If you attend lecture you will do well but his lectures are boring. He cancels class a lot for personal commitments and he is a bit of a flaker.

Chavez is a great lecturer. However, if you ask questions in class, he tends to put people down when he's not in a good mood. His tests are scantrons, but the midterm and final have essay questions. For some reason, girls had a better chance than boys of arguing over points in essay questions.

Mr. Chavez is an extremely wonderful person who is not only an excellent professor, but an overall genuine human being who will work with you and make sure you get it if you try....He produces competent Paralegals. He is one of many fine professors in the dept.

Great instructor, has a good sense of humor. Makes a boring legal class interesting. He also treates you like an adult, not like a dumb student. I also had him for Evidence-Legal 141 and I loved him. He does assign weekly homework but it does not take much time to do. Tests are not difficult because he tells you what to study.

Took his Ethics class. Great teacher, very fair grader. Tests aren't too bad. Nice guy. Easy material, HW is weekly, but don't need to spend forever doing. Take notes in lecture & will get an A in the class.
