Haas is probably one of the best professors I have had. I've had him for 3 semesters now. He definitely expects a lot but he is really sweet, is impartial and allows for rewrites on essays. Overall, I would take this professor every semester if I could. He is a real gem and maybe even more amazing than Dumbledore.

Professor Haas expects a lot of you. You will read a chapter out of the textbook each week and respond to it. Also you have 3 essays to do in his class but those are due at separate dates. He really likes you to analyze from the text. He is a good person and all but you might find yourself being bored in his class so you really have to engage.

Grade is based off of two papers with little feed back on how to improve. Papers are not clear and based on interpretation. Class participating is important as well.

I love Professor Haas. He will expect a lot from you so if you're lazy you're gonna hate him. He is one of the most knowledgeable and passionate people I've ever met. If you put the work in and show him effort he'll help you out in any way he can.

He is extremely passionate and knowledgeable about history, but his lectures are very disorganized and in my opinion, boring. He was funny sometimes, so that did help. His class was pretty much lecture based, so be ready for that and some Moodle assignments. I personally wouldn't take another one of his classes but, he is still a really good guy

hands down Haas is one of the best professors I've ever had. All of his classes are a lot of reading and they are all about class discussion. BUT he never calls on you or calls you out, he's really impartial and respectful. He gives a ton of feedback on your essays and gives you a chance to re write them too. A great prof and a really good guy

Dr. Haas is one of the best teachers I've ever had. He genuinely cares about his students and is passionate about his subject. he has his own way or writing so get ready to receive a lot of feedback when you get ur first paper back. other than that he is pretty straightforward. i would definitely take him again.

As long as you know what you're talking about when he calls on you to talk about the readings and you put some effort into the papers you'll be okay. It is a little annoying that he assigns a paper the day of the midterm and final but its doable and he's a nice and open-minded guy who loves what he does.

You can tell the man is probably still every ounce as passionate and fervent about American History as he was during the time he was a student. This class was no cakewalk, yet it wasn't also wasn't some sort of enigmatic mess of obscure information threatening to consume my freshman wekends. It was profoundly stimulating, inspiring, and memorable.

Very controversial reviews here should show you he is not for everyone. Haas is a grinder in work load and expectations so be prepared to work for that grade. His lectures are a bit disorganized but he is passionate, clear, and slow. He has a habit of going off topic but his sense of humor helps the boring factor. You should be okay if you giggle;)

I honestly thought that I had no chance passing this course but I ended up getting an A. The only reason his exams are difficult is because his lectures are EXTREMELY disorganized and the readings he assigns are impossible to keep up with. Besides this, his passion for History is amazing and respectable, but his class isn't for everyone.

Unrealistic expectations with the papers and literally grades based on what mood he's in. Don't take him if you're after an A. It's teachers like him that will make you want to drop out of the honors college.

He means well and is funny and pretty easy going. However, the tests are not a breeze at all and you have to study a lot to do well. There is a lot of reading that you actually need to do in order to pass, but it's not entirely possible to keep up with.

He loves participation.I had a quiet class and he pick out on people and is a nice guy but not very approachable.I love that he loves what he is teaching and tries to make class interesting. But most of the classes are boring lectures. His tests are pretty unfair.Like memorizing texts and small details.ALOT of reading and he is not understanding.

Incredible Teacher. I learned so much. Does require a bit of reading and five short papers per semester. If you like to learn and broaden your mind he's incredible, if you wanna breeze through college, don't take him. Very discussion base, very interesting, videos and art are part of the curriculum. One of the smartest men I know.
