Back in 7th grade I was a horrible math student, then in 8th grade I failed Algebra and was forced to retake it during the summer before highschool. His class sparked a life long interest in mathematics, I went on to undergrad at Cal and graduate school at USC in computer science. I still remember him to this day.

Waste of money and time. Dont bother even if his class is the last one available. No explanation, hands out quizes before even lecturing on the material, talks about history more than math, no partial credit, out of touch, cant even find a good thing to say about the class.

The worst teacher ever!!! If you wan to pass this class, you will need to take the text to a private tutor like I did. His method is to write the problem, quickly solve it, and tell you that it's your job to find out how he came to that answer. IVC should be ashamed at themselves for allowing such a person to teach!

He is the most conceded professor. He thinks he knows everything and that his teaching method is the only correct way. I literally had to get up from class and excuse myself before I was going to blow up on him. He is rude, and never lets anyone else talk. Worst teacher EVER.

I went into the class from high school having to repeat Precal because I couldn't get into Calculus.Note: I had an A both semesters in Precal during high school so I thought it would be no big deal.This was a ridiculous class and imo,he is a terrible communicator for math. Don't take his class. You are much better finding a higher rated math teache

Mas is a great teacher and provides crystal clear explanations. He does call-out students who do not listen & raise their hands with questions that Mas had already answered at least twice. I am glad he does so since there are many times I am ready to go home and am tired of waiting since people do not listen during class.

He knows how to teach math. The only problem is that he can be very rude, mean, as well, as condescending to the students. But his teaching method is crystal clear. As long as you come to class listen and practice u'll get an A. Tests are hard.Study and you'll do fine. I had a C all semester til I actually studied and got an A in the class.

he was hard at first. but when most of the students dropped... he was lenient.. most of the people in the class werent doing well... he gave lots of extra credit! out of the total points of 1100 or sumting.. like 300-400 were extra credit points.. haha that gave me an A! haha and the final wasnt hard at all :D

Worst teacher ever!!!! He will call you stupid if you don't understand what we are learning then won't help you understand. He makes his stories go on for a long time no matter how dumb they are. His class could be over within an hour but he makes you do many problems so you "understand" the section better. If you take this class get a tutor!

I read the comments about this guy and didn't think he could be that bad... I was terribly wrong. If you HAVE TO take this guys, do yourself a favor and get an awesome tutor. You can't ask him questions, and he enjoys belittling the class if you try. I'm pretty decent at math and I really struggle if I dont dedicate lots of study time to his class.

i went on rate my professor and just ignored the comments about hayashi. He told us that every year certain profs got turn to choose classes they want. And this year, Hayashi didn't got the chance. he ended up with Math 8 class. The point is that lower level of math is unwanted by profs because he thinks that students in low level of math are stupid. He is AIDS to your GPA! He'll kill your GPA!!

He's not a good teacher. You'll be teaching yourself in his class. hayashi is rude to his students, and makes you feel stupid for asking any questions. He grades your homework, and if you don't show all of your work he'll mark the answer wrong, even if its a good final answer
