Professor Mattick is an amazing professor. He is extremely opinionated and sometimes his ideas are difficult to swallow but he is overall a great and smart man. Look like you care and do his very few assignments and you will do well. Showing interest goes a long way.

Took him for Ethics, and then socialism, communism, anarchy bc i liked him so much. But i did not like this class with him. Lectures were long, and it was very business-y. The first paper assigned was very difficult, i'm lost in the class and he isn't very clear.

Great class! definitely recommend it. I did very good because i participated and wrote good papers. Little bit of a tough grader because he corrects grammar and such. But, interesting class and only has 3 papers total! Talk about topics like abortion, death penalty and terrorism. He's a very very smart person, learned a lot!

Challenges students to critically think and covers papers with copious, helpful notes. While his lively debate style can be intimidating (he will publicly point out your logical flaws and assumptions), his class has immensely improved my analytic, logic, and writing skills. A great teacher--one for those who care more about learning than grades.

I hated this professor to begin with but by the end of my college career i would change my whole schedule just to take a class with him. this man is beyond smart. He knows hes smart which is why people think hes obnoxious the fact of the matter is that he argues to make you think not to practice himself. If you prove you can think hel give u an A.

this was the WORST professor i have ever had at adelphi. he is rude and obnoxious. I have a 3.88 GPA and his class was the worst. he cannot teach whatsoever. DO NOT TAKE HIM..YOU WILL REGRET IT.

This professor is the man! I never rate professors, but I felt I need to rate this guy. First of all he is an intellectual. He is a Harvard grad. The work you do in this class is minimal, but one thing he wants you to do is think! I messed up initially, but finally understood what he wanted (1st grade, D, final grade A) You can too!

Professor Mattick is somewhat obnoxious, but he does always try to get you to use ur brain and think. He will ask you why a million times (both in class and in ur papers). Overall he is a good teacher and makes his class interesting. He is hard, but effective, i would recommend him.

Honestly, he wasn't that bad. I got an A. I did not participate, I did not read until I had to qoute things in papers. I didn't stay awake half the time. Have a general idea of the topic. Send your paper before it's due so he can check it and give you pointers. Do everything he says, and your on your way to an A. Just give him what he wants.

Just a fabulous experience. One of the most influential teachers in my career. You will have to do work, and think. If your a moron don't take his classes. Only for people who have a brain and can use it. Too many stupid Lond Islanders getting bad grades giving bad reports. He is really really smart, and you can get a lot out of his class.

I think he is just awesome. This class has completely changed my perception of everything. He might go off on you sometimes but if you take it in the right spirit and argue back, there is nothing like it. After all Philosophy is basically the only subject where one can question anything ans everything...
