I took the BLM seminar w/ Blake. The class was VERY easy and discussion based. Barely any homework. She is funny and really interested in the subject and encourages participation from everyone. Towards the end the class got boring. She is very disorganized and often times started class 30mins to an hour late but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

She grades you on how alive you are in the class. She wants you passionate and interested. She's brilliant and caring. Even if you don't understand the material, if you open up to her and show genuine interest she won't fail you. Literally. You can still get in the A range. We're the envy of F.S. TAKE HER FRESHMAN SEMINAR!! #BLACKLANGUAGEMATTERS

I had Prof. Blake for Language and Society and she was always fun and engaging. Her lectures were average but she did an especially great job getting class discussions going, and she was always open and honest with us about issues of race, class, etc. I had a great time in this class.

Had her for African-American English. She wasn't great at teaching the material. But what she lacks there she more than makes up for in care, niceness and easiness. The assignments aren't hard, the final assignment is an easy group research project. The grading is ridiculously easy. I never read the books. Skipped classes. Got an A. Great person.

Prof Blake is very knowledgeable re. her field and entertaining. She is a confident, sassy, beautiful black woman-a role model 4 women of color. The debates and issues discussed were intriguing, thought provoking & controversial. She doesn't sugar coat; no 'pol. correctness' in this class-just raw fact. Love it! Need more who tell it like it is

The class is pretty simple, all you really need to do is be able to look at data and analyze it. Prof Blake is really great and understanding. Sometimes the assignments can be confusing however and that really sucks because she deosn't know how to clarify things.

comes across as confident, intelligent and helpful but 3 weeks into the semester,it's obvious she only cares about making herself look good-and she doesn't seem to like to do much work either. she's one of those profs who only cares about her own agenda. wish i had taken the class with someone else:(
