Comment:
Gundy was the worst professor I have ever had to take. His lectures are all over the place and it makes it extremely difficult to take notes. Then to make matters worse, he does not follow the book at all. I read all the chapters and did many practice problems in the book but this did not help me at all on the exam. Avoid at all costs.

Made incredibly long study guides for the topics of his exams, went to every class, had a review book, prac by reading and doing problems, and watched videos online on how to do the problems and still failed because of how horrid the class was. I'm normally an A/B student and this was the first course I ever failed. I recommend everyone stay away

His class is all over the place- syllabus was never updated from the previous semester, grading criteria never clearly laid out, tests were solely based off of lectures, the book was useless as he deemed the problems too easy. More helpful in office hours, but doesn't give you practice problems or prepare you for exams, 25% of class failed, avoid.

Don't be alarmed if you're getting 30s and 50s on his exams. GO TO CLASS even if you feel like his lectures are useless. Participate, go to OFFICE HOURS; you need to show him that you care. You need to go to his office hours, sit him down, and have him teach you step by step. Tests are based off lecture NOT the book! Do well on the quizzes!

Really, take math 477 if you have the option. He's a nice guy but he can't teach and gets mad at the students for not studying when he doesn't give us anything to go on. I didn't know how to study for the final at all, his notes don't make sense. Avoid. Every rating is negative, that should say something

I am an honor student and would never recommend him. Never does practice problems, his teaching is completely disorganized and chaotic. Read the book if you want to learn, but his exam questions are made up from his own head and do not make sense. No grading policy. The only way to get an A is to visit during office hours to show that you care.

The only good thing about taking a class with Gundy is that the class avgs are bad. As long as you aren't doing BAD (as in, exam avg in the teens BAD), you'll probably pass with a C. But you'll be responsible for learning EVERYTHING on your own. He is absolutely unreliable as a teacher, and as tenured as he is, he wouldn't have it any other way.

Learning anything under this man is utterly impossible. I can't even recommend his class if you're a pure self study student, because his chaotic way of doing things make it difficult to understand what he expects you to know. Also seems to lack motivation to teach, and sympathizes only with his "best" students. Avoid at all costs.

OK, he doesn't eat small children as some ratings would suggest. He's usually a nice guy. But his teaching (when it happens) is disorganized, rambling and confusing. AVOID.

This was ridiculous. He taught nothing. I got a 100 on the first test but knew nothing. Do not know how it happened. Second test everyone failed but he gave everone 60's. Made the final really easy and gave everyone A's. I learned nothing. Do not take him if you want to learn anything.

Worst prof ever! Only a small fraction of the class (incl me) bothered to show up to lecture because it was useless. He wasn't clear at all and would cover material that was not from the book and put it on the test. Some stuff on the test was never covered in class or lecture. I only got an A because of my awesome TA. Avoid like the plague!

he is nice and intelligent, but he does not know how to teach. i went to his office hour for help, he cursed about the problems he did not know how to solve. basically, he does not give the students any review problems relating to his exam.big curve, but he takes all my passion about math away.dont try to challenge yourself. his class is a nightmare

He failed more than half of the class because there was no curve. Not that he's not smart, but he doesn't know how to teach. He gets confused and writes all over the board with little continuity in notes. I'd recomend switching if you can!

He is a dream crasher. I was dreaming to have a Bechelor's degree in statistics and he just demolished my dream. While other professors encourage to learn something in class, he encouraged to drop the class saying "Life is very short to be unhappy." after 1st exam. He did not know where the unhappiness came from.

I absolutely agree, without a doubt the worst teacher I've ever had. He is very condescending to everyone in the class who didn't have Calc in h.s., makes a ton of mistakes during his examples and is annoyed if you stop him to correct them. I had Calc in h.s. and I would've failed without my great TA. I can't say enough badly about this guy.

Horrible teacher. Does not understand that college is for the furtherment of college students. He expects students to appease him, instead of making an effort to help students. He believes that the purpose of his teaching the course is for his own enjoyment. Definitely do not take any of his classes.

OMG... the worst professor I've had in my entire school career. If you try to ask a question, he either berets you for not already knowing the answer, or he talks over you. He taught calculus to those who already knew it... didn't consider that the people taking this class (Calc 1) don't already know it! My savior was the T.A.

If you are placed in this class I suggest that you swich out of if fast! He would start a problem using epsilons and not real #'s,get confused, abondon the problem altogether and expect you to know it for the exam. The only reason i passed his class was b/c I had an awesome TA.
